Mostly, when we think of abandoned luxury cars, we think of older models from the mid-2000s. However, there are some abandoned cars on the streets which are extremely new. Recently, a video has become viral on the internet in which a Mercedes Maybach GLS600 - yes, you read that right - a Maybach luxury SUV has been left to rot on the side of a road in Mumbai.
The video showing this abandoned Mercedes Maybach GLS600 has been shared on Instagram by Mini Bollywood Mumbai on their page. In this short clip, we can note that a black-colored Mercedes Maybach GLS600 luxury SUV is parked on the side of the road. It can be noted that the vehicle is currently in a very dusty state and is covered with leaves and twigs. Also, all the tyres of this SUV are deflated as well.

Before going deeper into the story of why this Mercedes Maybach GLS600 has been abandoned, it has to be mentioned that the SUV seen above in the video and images is not actually a real Maybach GLS600. Instead, it is a Mercedes-Benz GLS 400d variant which has been converted into a Maybach using an aftermarket Maybach conversion body kit.
This kit comes with replacement front and rear bumpers, new front grilles, new Maybach-style alloy wheels, and Maybach emblems. Now, whether this particular GLS 400d has been given a new replacement rear lounge seating layout or not is unknown. However, a lot of such conversions are done with the interior replacement.

Now, coming to the details of why this particular Maybach SUV has been abandoned, it was reported that back in August of this year, this vehicle was involved in an accident which took the life of a woman. What happened was that this SUV was being driven by a chauffeur named Jeeva Ramchandra Munecha, aged 41.
This particular incident took place near Jaldarshan Society and Joggers Park at Carter Road, near Chimbai in Bandra West, Mumbai. The driver was reversing this SUV when it struck a 60-year-old woman named Kasturabai Chavan, resident of Carter Road, Mumbai. At the time of the incident, Chavan was drinking tea on the side of the road.
Soon after hitting the woman, the driver stepped out of the SUV, called an autorickshaw, and took the woman to Bhabha Hospital. The Mercedes Maybach was left at the spot of the accident. It was then reported that initially the doctors attempted treatment of the woman. However, as the head injuries were very severe, she succumbed to them and died.

Currently, the vehicle is under official police custody and has not been moved from the location where this incident took place. As per the reports, the authorities arrested the driver shortly after the accident, and blood samples were collected to test if he was under the influence of alcohol or not.
Now, whether the driver has been released or has been sent to jail has not been reported, as the case is still ongoing in court. Also, who is the owner of this vehicle has not been revealed.
