The popular finance influencer Ankur Warikoo, who is known for his love of Excel sheets and calculations for car purchases, has shared an interesting post online. In this post, he appreciated one of his team members who recently bought a Rs 55 lakh BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe for his father as a retirement gift. Warikoo, in his post, revealed that despite dropping the idea of doing engineering from IIT after failing to crack the IIT-JEE exam, his team member has bought this incredible vehicle.
The appreciation post for his team member has been shared on Facebook by Ankur Warikoo. The popular finance influencer, motivational speaker, and angel investor shared a number of insights and the inspirational story behind the purchase of this luxury car. He mentioned that his team member, Shaurya Shikhar, just five years ago, was pursuing a BBA.
He highlighted that Shikhar, at the time of his college, was struggling with low confidence as he could not clear the IIT-JEE exam. This setback was even more intense for him as his father is an IIT graduate. He spiraled into the thought that he had let his parents down. Warikoo also mentioned that Shikhar, at the time, weighed 110+ kgs as well. Due to this, he also felt ashamed of his physical condition.

In his post, Warikoo then mentioned that while Shikhar was in college, he joined his team. The influencer added that Shikhar started from scratch, contributed consistently to the team, and managed to grow professionally. Over the years, through his learnings, he developed strong business acumen and personal growth.
As a result of the hard work put in by Shikhar, this year he was able to purchase a brand-new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe worth Rs 55 lakh for his father as a tribute to his retirement. In his post, Warikoo stated that this car is more than a mode of transport; rather, it is a symbolic milestone of the efforts made by Shaurya Shikhar.
Warikoo, while going deeper into the financial details, stated that today the down payment of Shikhar’s car is less than 5 percent of his total net worth and that the EMI he pays is under 7 percent of his monthly income. He highlighted that Shikhar today earns seven figures monthly and is the fittest he has ever been.

With this post, the bigger message that has been conveyed is that perseverance can help in achieving the unimaginable. Warikoo highlighted that during tough phases, motivation or optimism often feels empty, but the only thing that truly helps is to keep moving forward. He added, “If we all believe that life will eventually work out, the only thing we can do is keep moving. Until it works out.”
As mentioned, the vehicle bought by Shaurya Shikhar is a BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe. It is offered with a single engine option — a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol. This motor is capable of producing 156 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, it gets a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
