In many parts of India, vehicles play key roles in wedding celebrations. It is common to see the bride and groom celebrate in cars and SUVs or make grand entries in vintage or classic cars. One such act recently took an unexpected turn, landing the couple in a tricky situation. The bride and groom stood through the sunroof of a Hyundai Exter and burst fireworks. The groom’s turban caught fire from the same, putting both their lives at risk. A video of this has now surfaced...
The bride and groom seem to be taking part in a celebratory procession. As the clip opens, we see the bride, in traditional bridal wear, standing out through the Exter’s single-pane sunroof. She has cold fire guns in both her hands.
For the uninitiated, a cold fire gun is a handheld pyrotechnic device that uses advanced technology to create dazzling non-flammable sparks that look almost like those from actual fireworks. These are cheap and can be bought on most e-commerce platforms. These are widely used in birthday and wedding celebrations today. The sparks generated by these do not last long enough to burn human skin, making them safe for indoor use. They can, however, ignite flammable objects like clothes or curtains!

Later in the video, we see both the bride and groom standing through the sunroof and celebrating together. They have a pyro gun each, in their hands. First, we see the lady using it. She holds it in a near-vertical position and shoots sparks. Shocking us, the gun explodes! We see a huge fireball and sparks being thrown around. A portion of it lands on her face. She is shocked and frantically tries to clear her face.
We then see a flame on the groom’s headwear! Sparks from the explosion likely landed on his turban, setting it ablaze! He is, however, unaware of this and continues to use his pyro party gun! Even the wife fails to notice the burning turban...

People from around soon notice the imminent danger and rush towards the car, shouting. They warn the groom of what’s happening and, in another moment or two, take off the turban and extinguish the fire safely. The groom takes some time to figure out what’s happening.
The timely intervention of people (guests for the wedding night) saved the couple in this case. This incident is a wake-up call for people who still think of cold fire guns as completely harmless and handle them carelessly.
In November last year, another incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Gandevada village, in which a car caught fire during a baaraat procession (groom’s wedding procession). In the video of this incident that was shared online later, we see a man bursting firecrackers from the sunroof of a Hyundai Alcazar. The sparks and flames from these landed on the vehicle, eventually setting it ablaze.
No casualties were reported in this incident. The vehicle, however, took serious damage. This incident happened on a public road. The Alcazar had people inside, and there were vehicles and people around as well. When the vehicle caught fire, its occupants scrambled to safety. Panicked onlookers also fled the scene and informed the police.
In the aftermath, cops seized the vehicle and imposed a handsome fine on the accused. Cases of firecrackers being shot from vehicles’ sunroofs have also been reported from Chandigarh and Gurugram. This one, however, went too far and made more notorious headlines.
