The bigger the vehicle, the bigger is the blind spot, and due to this, other smaller vehicles become invisible to the driver of the bigger vehicle if they are in a blind spot. Recently, a video showing why exactly one should never be driving at the blind spot of a truck has been shared online. In this particular incident, a Hyundai Creta was seen getting flipped over on the road after colliding into a truck because of its blind spot.
The video showing this hair-raising incident has been shared on YouTube by Third Eye Dude on their channel. In this short clip, what happens is that there were two trucks and two Hyundai Creta SUVs, along with other vehicles, on a national highway in Bengaluru, Karnataka. We can then observe that one of the trucks was in the left lane and the other truck was slightly behind in the right lane.

Following what happened was that the first Creta driver, who we can clearly see was in the blind spot of the truck on the right side, was trying to overtake it. Soon after this, we can observe that as the truck driver thought there was no vehicle on the left side (due to blind spot), he did not slow down his vehicle. However, the Creta driver had already committed to the overtake.
As a result, the rear right side of the Creta bumped into the front left side of the truck. Due to this, the Creta first moved to the right side of the road, and then the driver started counter-steering, because of which the SUV came towards the left side of the road and avoided collision with another Creta. Finally, we can note that it flipped over.

Now, coming to the fault, we can note that clearly the Hyundai Creta driver was at fault. This is because larger vehicles like trucks have significant blind spots, especially along their sides. And as the Creta driver was driving very close to the truck on the rear left side and then tried overtaking from the left side, there was no possibility of the truck driver seeing the Creta until the very end.
All larger truck drivers have to rely on mirrors to make sure that the lanes are clear. However, this particular truck could not have noticed the Creta as it was in his blind spot. Now, what happened was that, as a result, this driver did not slow down his truck when the Creta was overtaking, which caused this massive accident.

Also, the truck driver is not at fault because he was not driving recklessly in this situation. He was neither changing the lanes abruptly nor braking extensively. Thankfully, despite the flip-over crash, not much was damaged in the Hyundai Creta except for the fact that it was upside down.
This is why one should never drive or linger in a truck’s blind spot. Also, always overtake large vehicles quickly, decisively, and with clear visibility, or wait until it is completely safe. In this particular case, the Creta driver’s impatience and poor judgment around a heavy vehicle directly led to the crash and rollover.
