The all-new, second-generation Kia Seltos launched in India on January 2nd. Deliveries started commencing by the middle of this month. The product has generated immense demand in India. A recent video shared on YouTube shows how the owner of a first-generation Seltos GT Line sold it to buy the base variant (HTE) of the new Seltos.
The video shows Nishkarsh Yadav, the man who bought the new Seltos. In it, he says that he used to own the GT Line version of the previous Seltos. He sold it off and bought the base-spec HTE diesel variant of the new Seltos. He even claims that it is the first (new) diesel Seltos in Meerut.
Talking to the host, Yadav says that he was very happy with the previous-generation Seltos and the value it offered. It had an ex-showroom price of over Rs 24 lakh. The new model doesn’t disappoint in delivering value. The base diesel has an ex-showroom price of Rs 12.59 lakh. The on-road price in Meerut, he says, is over Rs 14.50 lakh. He also says that he was able to get the car delivered in just four days. He did not even do a proper PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection).

The new Seltos is available in seven broad trims- HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK (O), HTX and GTX. Even the base HTE trim is available with both petrol and diesel engines. Only a manual transmission is being offered on the HTE trim.
The mid-size SUV segment has been lately witnessing a lot of traction. Several new models recently entered the space. Yadav, however, says that he did not shortlist or consider any other model. He was particular about upgrading to the new Seltos. Its design, he says, impressed him instantly.
Yadav then says that he has to drive atleast 100 km per day, and thus had to choose the diesel over the petrol. He is happy with the performance and also says that it delivers a fuel efficiency of 22-23 kpl on highways. According to him, the car returns 18-19kpl in the city.

The video then shows the SUV in detail. It comes with LED headlamps, DRLs, 16-inch steel wheels, shark-fin antenna, rear spoiler and even flush-fitting door handles. It doesn’t get roof rails. All wheels get disc brakes.
The interior has Black and Grey upholstery. The base-spec Seltos comes with good equipment levels. It gets a manual height adjustment for the driver's seat, steering-mounted controls, reverse camera, cruise control, 12-inch driver’s display, USB-C charging ports, keyless entry, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The video shows many of these in detail.

This owner seems to be very happy with the purchase. It is a bit unusual to see someone move from a higher variant to a much lower variant of its next generation. This makes much sense in the case of Yadav. Most of the features that he misses on the HTE trim are those which he rarely uses. The sunroof is a good example.
He also feels that the suspension has improved on the new Seltos. The Seltos has always been infamous for its stiff ride. According to this owner, this has improved on the new model. It may not be too plush, but is definitely better than what was on offer on the previous model. He also acknowledges improvements like the addition of more charging points and more.
