Kia Sonet Hit By Falling Boulder On Mountain Road: Family Escapes Unhurt [Video]
Driving on the mountains seems very exciting due to the amazing views that it has to offer. However, there are a lot of unexpected things that can take place during such drives. Recently, a video has been shared online which shows exactly what we are talking about. In this short clip, what happens is that a massive boulder rolls down a hill and it hits the Kia Sonet of a family which was driving on the road. Thankfully, no one was hurt during this incident.
The video showing this dangerous incident has been shared on Instagram by Wrecker Gamer on their page. What happens in this dashcam footage is that a family of five was driving on a mountain road in a normal way. Soon after this, the clip shows that a massive boulder rolls off the mountain and crashes into the front right side of this particular Kia Sonet.
We can note that a light pickup truck was coming from the other side of the road. However, the boulder crossed it in a split second and hit the SUV of the family. Thankfully, despite this boulder hit, the family sitting in the vehicle did not suffer from any injuries. As we can note, even if there had been a slight change in speed, it could have hit the driver side and caused a lot more damage.
Currently, this particular video has become viral because of the reaction of the family to this hit by the boulder. We can hear that soon after the hit, the lady in the rear asks, “What fell?”. To this, the couple sitting in the front immediately replied in perfect synchronisation that a rock fell. The lady then questions, “On what vehicle?”. After which, the couple again replies in sync that it fell on their car, and the woman in the rear says, “Noo”.
As mentioned, this particular save was extremely miraculous. This is because, as we can note, the speed of the boulder which fell was quite high. And if the vehicle would have been slightly faster, it would have hit either the driver side door or the rear right passenger door. In the video, we can note that only the front right fender and bonnet were damaged due to this boulder.
However, if it had hit the doors, the damage on the Kia Sonet would have been a lot worse. Another important thing which has to be noted is that, thankfully, no airbags deployed in this particular instance. We are saying this because, although the couple sitting in the front would have been safe with the airbags deployed, as they were wearing seatbelts, the kid sitting on the lap of the woman in the front would have got injured by the airbag.
This is a very common occurrence in India, where people are seen carrying their children on their laps on the front seats. However, this is an extremely unsafe way of travelling with very young kids. Ideally, a kid should only be seated in a child seat with proper seatbelts in the rear so that, in case of any accident, they do not get hit by the airbags.
As for this particular incident, there is nothing much anyone can do in terms of driving to avoid it. This is because objects like this rock or any other animal can come off the mountains at any instance, and even if someone has complete attention on the road, they might not be able to react on time to save themselves from such hits.
