We have all been in a situation where we’ve been stuck in a traffic jam for hours, and suddenly you hear loud sirens — some local politician or minister, along with his convoy, decides to overtake you from a different lane or maybe even from the opposite lane. You would have felt angry and might have even thought in your mind how unfair it is. Well, something like this happened recently in Maharashtra too — but instead of staying silent, the public decided to react. They blocked the convoy of the Maharashtra Transport Minister, who was coming from the wrong side while everyone else was stuck in traffic.
The video of people reacting has been going viral on various social media platforms. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, along with his convoy, was actually blocked by Congress party leader Vijay Patil and Bhumiputra Sanghatana president Sushant Patil on Mira Road. In the video, we see that there is a long traffic jam on the right side of the road. Locals are struggling to commute, and the reason for that is the poor condition of the roads.
People who live in Maharashtra would agree that the condition of roads in many parts of the state is pathetic, and the poorly maintained roads with large potholes have become a major cause of congestion and accidents on the highways.
This has now started affecting the lives of people living in nearby villages and local residents too. When the local politicians and opposition party leaders came to know that the Transport Minister’s convoy was passing through the highway, they decided to protest and block the road.

To their surprise, the minister’s convoy came from the wrong side of the road. This made locals even angrier. While the general public was suffering in the long traffic jam, the minister and his convoy were actually passing through the wrong side of the road.
Locals decided to block the convoy and confront the leader. The kilometre-long traffic jams on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad National Highway have become a common sight, but what triggered the outrage was probably the minister’s convoy on the wrong side of the road. The locals, as seen in the video, stopped the vehicles and made the minister, along with the escort vehicles, turn around. We are not sure if the minister’s vehicle rejoined the road or if he simply cancelled the plan and returned.
Ministers and leaders often travel in convoys as part of their security protocol. However, they often forget the fact that such convoy movements create inconvenience for the general public. This is not the first time we have come across something like this from Maharashtra. A couple of weeks ago, Maharashtra’s Forest Minister Ganesh Naik’s convoy was seen on the wrong side of the road, creating congestion and inconvenience to the general public.
The comments under this video are filled with frustrated people who are appreciating what the protestors did. Some of the comments under the video are:
“That’s the spirit, guys. Why should the public always have to face the situation?”
“The problem is these ministers don’t have to face the everyday issues of the common man. Once they start living in our shoes, maybe then they’ll start solving these issues.”
“The politicians are servants of the people! And they should be reminded of that fact every time. The courage of these people should be applauded. More power to them!”
