A lot of people in India want higher speed limits on public roads. However, the problem with increasing speed limits is that it will not be safe for a lot of drivers on the road. This is because not everyone can handle high-speed driving, and as a result, a lot more accidents will start to take place. Recently, a video has gone viral online which shows two separate incidents where high-speed overtaking almost caused huge accidents.
The video showing these two accidents due to the 120 kmph high-speed limit has been shared on YouTube by Prateek Singh on his channel. In this short video, the first incident is of the creator of the same channel. He mentions that recently he was travelling on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in his car, which has a dashcam installed.
He then highlights that at one point, while driving in the second right lane, which is the high-speed lane, he came behind a Mahindra XUV700. Now, in order to quickly overtake this vehicle, the YouTuber started driving in the overtaking lane, where the speed limit is around 120 kmph. However, in the very next moment, due to his alert driving, he was able to avert a major accident.

The YouTuber shows and highlights that while he was in the overtaking lane, he saw a Mahindra Bolero pickup truck with other farm equipment in the rear of it. This Bolero pickup driver was making an illegal U-turn on the expressway.
Due to this, the driver then immediately had to slow down his vehicle to avoid crashing into it. Soon after this, the creator mentions that the only reason he was able to slow down was because he saw the Bolero pickup truck from a distance. Thankfully, no one got injured, and no vehicle got damaged in this incident.

In addition to the above clip, the creator has also added another clip to his video. As per the creator, this particular dashcam video footage was shared with him by one of his active viewers. The message from the person who shared the clip stated that the front and rear dashcam footage shared by him was recorded on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, near Surat City in Gujarat.
The person who sent this video was traveling towards Vadodara, Gujarat, when a white-colored Honda Mobilio MPV overtook them from the right side. Soon after this, the driver of the Mobilio, due to overtaking at a high speed, lost control of his vehicle and went from the extreme right lane to the third left lane after drifting.
Thankfully, as the overtaking lane was empty and no other vehicle was coming from behind, the dashcam car was able to avoid hitting any vehicle, including the Honda Mobilio on the left side. As per the creator, the speed of this Honda Mobilio was around 110–120 kmph.

Although a lot of people request the authorities to increase the speed limits on public roads such as highways and expressways, incidents like the above are proof of why not everyone can handle high-speed driving. Most drivers in India lack precision driving skills and are unaware of how to control a vehicle at a high speed. Due to this, the speed of 120 kmph is slightly high and should be reduced.
