Mercedes-Benz is one of the largest luxury car manufacturers in the country. They even have one of the biggest line-ups of cars too. While most people who buy such cars use them for comfort, there are individuals who like modifying them. Here we have a video of a 10-year-old Mercedes-Benz C-Class that has been beautifully converted into a current-generation C-Class C63 AMG.
The video has been shared by Autorounders on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see the workshop owner give us a hint about what they plan to do and what the customer wanted from the vehicle. The video starts by showing excerpts from the conversations and discussions that they had with the customer before starting the work.
Once they got approval from the customer, the technicians at the workshop started working on the project. They removed the front bumper, bonnet, headlights, grille, and fenders from the front. At the rear, they removed the tailgate, rear bumper, tail lights, and rear fenders.
They used conversion kits on the sedan. They started by dummy fitting the new panels to the car. This is done in order to check whether all the panels are fitting properly, and if not, they make changes accordingly. Once the dummy fitting process is done, they take the new panels and the whole car to the body shop. Here, the vehicle and the new panels are inspected for scratches and dents. These minor dents and uneven panels are fixed using body fillers. The excess body fillers and putty work are then sanded off, and after giving the car a thorough wash and cleaning, it is then taken to the paint booth.
All the new body panels are fixed to the C-Class. The video mentions that the only section where they needed to do a bit of fabrication was the rear fender, and that was to ensure that the tail light sits in place. Apart from this, everything was fitting perfectly.
The vehicle is then taken to the paint booth where they spray a layer of primer and then paint the whole car in the Alpine Grey shade, which is a popular colour in the C63 AMG. The gloss looks sporty and is similar to the Nardo Grey shade. In order to complement the exterior shade, the alloy wheels on this sedan have also been blacked out with silver accents.
Coming to the interior, the owner wanted to upgrade that as well. We do not see the old interiors of this sedan in the video. It is possible that they were starting to look old as the video mentions that this was a 10-year-old vehicle. The new interior gives it a fresh look and would make the owner feel good about the whole car once again.
The owner went with a tan and black dual-tone theme for the car. The infotainment system on this car is upgraded and now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The centre console and steering wheel are all customised as part of the project. The seats are all done in-house, and they have been given the same pattern and cushioning as the original AMG seats.
The final product does look like a W206-generation C63 AMG, which costs over Rs 1.9 crore, ex-showroom. While the mechanicals of the vehicle remain the same, the owner of this 10-year-old C-Class managed to get his vehicle customised into a C63 AMG without spending crores.
