A lot of people wanted to know that if a drag race was held between a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG and its electric version, the G580 EQ, who would win it. Now, answering this question, the popular Indian YouTuber Sourav Joshi has shared a video online. In this video, he drag raced his G580 EQ electric SUV against his friend's newly bought G63 AMG, and the results will surprise you.
The video showing the drag race between the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG and the G580 EQ has been shared on YouTube by Sourav Joshi on his channel. It starts off with Joshi mentioning that his friend Dinesh Kirola, who is a popular stock trader, has recently bought a G63 AMG, which is the petrol version of his SUV, and he is coming to visit him.
Following this, he then adds that they will be drag racing these two luxury SUVs to find out which one is faster. Soon after this, Kirola arrives at Joshi’s residence, and they go to the national highway to perform the drag races. It starts off with Joshi and his wife sitting in their electric G580 and Kirola and his friends sitting in the white G63.

They then line both SUVs next to each other and start the drag race with three horns by Joshi. It can be noted that immediately after getting ready, the G580 takes the lead with a massive margin. Joshi and his wife get thrown back on the seat due to the extremely high torque of the electric G580. Meanwhile, the G63 AMG, just after a few seconds, gets left behind.
However, what happens is that after hitting around 170 kmph, the white G63 overtakes the G580 EQ. They then perform the second drag race, and once again the same thing happens. During the third drag race, Joshi highlights that even though the G580 EQ is quicker off the line, the G63 AMG has a much higher top speed. He mentions that the G63 AMG can reach 240 kmph.

Meanwhile, the electric G-Wagen only has a top speed of 180 kmph. Following the third drag race, Joshi and his wife then sit in the G63 AMG, and this time around the video shows how quickly the G580 EQ picks up speed. In this video, we can note that the entire front end of the G580 lifts up because of the sheer torque.

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG comes equipped with a massive 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine that generates 585 PS and 850 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an automatic transmission, and power is sent to all four wheels.
Meanwhile, the G580 EQ comes powered by four electric motors, one for each wheel. In total, it makes 587 PS and 1,164 Nm of peak torque. As for the battery pack, the G580 EQ comes equipped with a 116 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 473 km. And just because of the massive amount of torque, which is readily available from the start, the G580 EQ is able to win the drag race against the G63 AMG. The G63 AMG needs higher RPM to generate its peak torque.
