Today, if you were to buy a brand-new Maybach GLS 600, it will cost you Rs 3.7 crore. Meanwhile, the GLS 450d costs Rs 1.44 crore, which is less than half of the price of the Maybach. Now, what if we told you that you can get a Maybach for half the price of the original one? You'd say we are mad. However, currently, what a lot of people are doing to save money is converting their standard GLS into a GLS 600. Recently, a video showing a brand-new GLS 450d getting converted into a Maybach has been shared online.
The video showing this conversion of a standard Mercedes-Benz GLS 450d into a Maybach GLS 600 has been shared on YouTube by Autorounders on their channel. It starts off with the owner of this popular body shop mentioning that they recently received this Mercedes-Benz GLS 450d. He added that the owner of this luxury SUV first took delivery of the vehicle, then took it to a temple, and then directly sent it to their shop in Mira Bhayandar, Thane, Maharashtra.

Following this, the owner of the shop then mentions that they will be converting this standard GLS 450d into a Maybach using an aftermarket body kit. He highlights that, at the front, they will not be changing the bonnet, fenders, and the headlights. Only the front bumper, grille, and the lower fog light grille and lower parts will be changed. As for the side profile, he mentions that they will be changing the foot steps.
The standard GLS 450d comes equipped with fixed foot steps. However, the Maybach GLS 600 comes with automatically deployable steps. As for the rear end, the owner adds that they will be changing the rear bumper and adding more chrome details, as they are in the GLS 600. Following this, he shows that the kit they are using is a plug-and-play kit and has all the provisions for the company-fitted sensors already in it.

The video shows that the technicians in the shop carefully tape up the headlights and edges of the body panels before test fitment of all the aftermarket body parts, following which, after getting satisfied with the fit and finish, the body parts then get prepared for paint. The owner of the shop highlights that they are painting the body parts in Obsidian Black color.
As for the paint material, he mentions that they use the original Glasurit paint, which is imported from Germany. Following this, the video then shows the painter painting all the body parts in the Obsidian Black shade. Finally, after the painting is complete, the body parts are fitted to the SUV, and the final look is revealed.

The owner of the shop then shows the final product and highlights the differences. At the front, he mentions that they have changed the grille to Maybach grilles. He then moves to the side profile and mentions that they have added forged alloy wheels with the same design as the standard model. Finally, he shows the rear end. On the inside, as well, they have added Maybach logos on the pedals, centre console, seat backs, and door sills to complete the look.

Now, for those wondering what else makes the difference between the GLS 450d and Maybach GLS 600, it has to be highlighted that the GLS 600 comes equipped with a massive 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 motor. Meanwhile, the GLS 450d gets a 3.0-litre diesel engine. Also, the Maybach GLS 600 gets a four-seater layout with lounge-like seats in the rear.
