Mika Singh is one of the most popular Punjabi singers in India, and the younger brother of Daler Mehndi, another big name. He has a huge fan following on social media platforms as well- over 15 million on Instagram and 6+ lakh on YouTube. Singh is also known for his taste in cars. We have seen him own several interesting machines in the past. More interestingly, he has made unusual headlines by gifting others expensive cars and SUVs. A social media post by Daler Mehndi’s son claims that he has added a custom Hummer H2 SUV to his garage!
Singer Gurdeep Mehndi, Daler Mehndi’s son, posted a carousel on his Instagram handle, revealing Mika’s new purchase. It has a video and a picture of the SUV. Mika and Gurdeep can be seen posing along with singer Navraj Hans (who is Daler Mehndi’s son-in-law).
The picture shows the family celebrating its new purchase. In the caption, Gurdeep clearly mentions that the SUV belongs to Mika. The video shows them posing and taking the vehicle for a spin.

Mika’s new Hummer H2 looks significantly more opulent than the stock vehicle, as it has been customised heavily. The SUV is finished in Black, but gets Gold-coloured detailing in many areas of its design. You’ll see these on the hood, front bumper, wheels, door handles, fuel lid, wheelarch claddings, sideview mirror mounts etc.
Considering Mika’s love for luxury, it seems safe to assume that these could be actual Gold platings, and not merely a paint job. Further details of this vehicle are sparse.
The post has got a lot of attention online. Netizens have been actively engaging with it, congratulating the singer on his new set of wheels.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first Hummer that has found a place in Mika’s garage. He had bought an H2 in 2006, when it was still in its prime. It had the 6.2L L9H naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine (more about it later in this article). It was finished in a striking Orange colour.
This vehicle has made multiple headlines in the past. In 2011, it was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident in Mumbai. The singer, however, denied driving it at the time. In 2021, it broke down in the middle of the night, during heavy Mumbai rains. Mika and Akanksha Puri, who were in it, got stranded. People and passersby soon gathered to help them out, a video of which was later shared online.

People love the H2 for its butch proportions, intimidating design, and the ‘go anywhere’ nature. It blends ruggedness with luxury and is often seen as a status symbol among the rich and the affluent. In India, celebrities have always loved it, and we have seen some Hummer models in most garages at some point in time.
GM never launched the Hummer here. Many were, however, brought in as private imports. Even today, it is possible to source a Hummer from the used car market. A well-kept unit could cost somewhere in the range of Rs 50-60 lakh. This can vary based on the kit and customisations on individual examples.
General Motors first launched the H2 in 2002. It remained in production till 2009 and was available in two body styles- SUV and SUT (four-door Sport Utility Truck). Its butch stance and design tied it closer to the original H1. It was, however, much more comfortable than the OG.

When it was first launched, the H2 had a 6.0-liter V8 under its hood, producing 316hp and 488Nm. A 2005 update increased these to 325hp and 495Nm. The H2 got another update in 2008, in which its 6.0L V8 was replaced with a larger 6.2L V8. The new engine was capable of producing around 409hp and 563 Nm, and came mated to a six-speed transmission.
Back in the day, both these engines became infamous for their poor fuel efficiency (Many called it a ‘gas guzzler’). Fuelled by the high petrol prices in the US, global recession, and bankruptcy, GM eventually pulled the plug on the legendary ‘Hummer’ brand. It, however, made a glorious return in 2020, as an EV!
