The billionaire Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group, Gautam Singhania, who is also an avid automotive enthusiast, has recently made an extremely bold statement. Singhania, while attending the NDTV World Summit, stated that he does not think about EVs as he believes they are toys. He also added that EVs are politically exaggerated and hyped.
During the event, Raymond Group MD Gautam Singhania was asked his thoughts about electric cars. To this, he replied, “EVs have simply been politically exaggerated.” He added that he doesn't even care about them after he was asked if he likes driving electric vehicles. In addition to this, he also stated that he thinks EVs are like his childhood toys.

He stated, “When I was four, I had a battery-operated car. So why all the fuss about EVs now? My little car was also an EV too!” All of these statements were made by Singhania at the NDTV World Summit 2025, a forum where business, political, and media leaders are invited to speak on various topics.

For those who may not be aware, there are a few different reasons why Gautam Singhania made these bold statements. The first is that Singhania is a true automotive enthusiast who loves petrol-guzzling supercars and luxury cars. He is also the founder of India's first supercar club, called Super Car Club Garage (SCCG).
Generally, supercar owners and true petrolheads are not very excited when it comes to electric cars. As for his statement on EVs being politically hyped, he wanted to highlight that EVs are strongly influenced by policy, image, and media rather than solely by practical superiority.

As mentioned, Gautam Singhania is one of the most popular car guys in India. He owns a number of supercars and luxury cars in his garage. He recently bought himself a brand-new BMW M2 sports car finished in the classy shade of Portimao Blue. Like his other supercars and sports cars, this one has also been modified
It has been given a carbon-fiber body kit, beautiful brushed-silver Vossen alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler. The BMW M2 comes powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine. This motor is capable of producing 473 bhp and 600 Nm of torque with the 8-speed automatic gearbox, and 550 Nm with the 6-speed manual transmission. Currently, the BMW M2 is priced at Rs 1.03 crore.

He also owns a Ferrari 296 GTB finished in the beautiful shade of white. It has also been equipped with lovely aftermarket alloy wheels. This supercar comes powered by a 2.9-liter V6 engine that is paired with an electric motor. This hybrid setup generates a maximum of 818 PS, making it the most powerful V6 engine ever produced by Ferrari. The price of this beauty is a whopping Rs 5.4 crore.

Gautam Singhania also owns a McLaren 750S supercar, which, interestingly, was the first customer-delivered car in Mumbai. It is finished in a bright shade of orange and has also been equipped with aftermarket alloy wheels. The 750S comes powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane V8 engine that generates a maximum of 750 PS and 800 Nm of peak torque.

As for the other cars in his extensive collection, he owns a McLaren Senna and a Ferrari LaFerrari, which he keeps in Dubai. He also owns a Ford Mustang Mach 1, Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet, 1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, Maserati MC20, and many others.
