No matter how many times it has been told that drinking and driving is one of the worst offences a person can commit, there are still a lot of people who do it. Once again, another spine-chilling drunk driving accident has become viral online. This time, a Skoda Slavia owner was seen crashing into the wall of a restaurant in Bangalore after hitting a divider and flying off. The shocking video of this accident shows how a group of pedestrians was saved from getting hit by this car.
The video showing this terrifying accident has been shared on X by Yashir Mushtaq on their page. In this short clip, we can note that a black Skoda Slavia was coming at a high speed from across the road. What happened next was that the vehicle first hit the central divider on the road and immediately flew off in the air, soon after which it landed on the other side of the road and then crashed into the wall of a restaurant.
It can be seen in the video that there was a group of young men and women who were saved after they immediately ran off. We can see that one of the people from this group was saved only after he moved a few inches ahead. Additionally, the video also shows that a scooter rider and a delivery rider were also saved, as they crossed the road just a few milliseconds before the car hit the wall.
According to the reports, this particular accident took place on January 8, on Thursday, at around 11:35 PM. As for the location, it happened on the 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar, Bengaluru, near the junction connecting the 18th Main Road and 100 Feet Road. What happened was that this particular Skoda Slavia sedan was being driven by a man named Derrick Tony, aged 42.
Tony was driving his Slavia at a very high speed and intended to take the left turn to 100 Feet Road from 18th Main Road. However, as the speed of this sedan was extremely high, he could not turn it on time, and eventually the vehicle drove straight ahead. It then jumped over the road divider like a ramp, briefly became airborne, and then rammed into the outer wall of the Barbeque Nation restaurant.
As seen in the video, a group of young men and women were standing outside the restaurant after having their dinner when this particular sedan crashed into the wall. What happened was that as the vehicle hit the divider, a loud noise was heard by the group, and they quickly moved away from the path of the car, saving their lives.
There were two riders on the road as well who were riding straight. It was noted from the video that one of the two-wheelers was clipped by the car, and as a result, the rider named Jabir Ahmend sustained minor injuries. Soon after the incident, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Also, Derrick Tony, the owner of the car, suffered minor injuries and was saved because the airbags deployed on time.
As per the reports, the JB Nagar Traffic Police and Jeevan Bima Nagar Traffic Police arrested the driver. Also, an FIR against the driver has been filed under the charges of overspeeding and drunk driving.
