A lot of people, even in 2025, still own the first-generation Toyota Fortuner, or Fortuner Type 1, as it is called by most people. The Fortuner is an extremely reliable SUV, and most of its owners do not want to part ways with their cars as they are still working perfectly. Recently, one such Type 1 Fortuner owner decided to give his SUV a completely new appearance with the help of a custom-made “Spartan kit,” and the video of this transformation has now been shared online.
The video showing the Toyota Fortuner Type 1 with the Spartan kit has been shared on YouTube by Autorounders on their channel. It starts off with the owner of the shop mentioning that this particular Fortuner Type 1 has come to their shop all the way from Gujarat. He then adds that this particular vehicle, despite being old, is still in decent condition.

However, as it now looks a little outdated, the owner of this SUV asked him what could be done to give it a refreshed appearance. To this, he suggested that he could either convert his vehicle from Type 1 to Type 2 or get a Lexus kit installed, after which the owner of this Fortuner asked if he could get something more unique for his SUV. As a result, the owner of Autorounders suggested to him the Spartan kit.
The owner of the shop highlighted that the Spartan kit is an in-house developed kit that they offer for Type 1 and Type 2 Fortuners. He added that it is one of the most aggressive and bold-looking aftermarket kits for this SUV. In addition to this kit, he mentioned that they are also giving it a new paint job and a custom interior as well.

Following the explanation, the video then shows the silver-colored Type 1 Fortuner getting completely disassembled and fitted with a Spartan kit. It can be noted that all the body panels were made dent-free, filled with putty, and then sanded down, after which it was given a primer and then finally painted.
In the video, the owner highlights that they have opted for the gloss Onyx Black color, which is an OEM Mercedes-Benz color. He added that they generally suggest Spartan kit Fortuner owners opt for matte or satin colors. However, the owner of this Fortuner opted for a gloss color, as it would be hard to repaint a satin finish.
Finally, the vehicle then gets completely reassembled, and it can be noted that it has been given a custom brown leather interior as well. All the seats have been reupholstered using new leather, and the steering wheel of this SUV is also from the new Toyota LC300 GR Sport. Additionally, the owner added that they have also changed the alloy wheels, and they are now a lot sportier and add to the aggressive appearance of this SUV.

The answer to this question is very subjective. On one hand, there are a lot of people who only like restoring their old cars to make them look brand new. But on the other hand, there are people who like having a vehicle that is completely unique and unlike any other on the road. For such people, getting these aftermarket kits makes a lot of sense.
