Toyota Fortuner is one of those SUVs that doesn’t need any introduction. In fact, it is an SUV that has been ruling this segment for almost two decades. It is powerful, capable both on and off the road, and extremely reliable. These are some of the reasons why many Fortuner owners are not willing to sell their vehicles. However, they often get bored of the looks, and the cabin starts to feel outdated.
To address this, many owners modify the exterior and interior of their vehicles, and there are several workshops that specialize in such conversion jobs. Here we have one such video where a Type 3 Toyota Fortuner has been neatly converted into a Legender variant.
The video has been shared by Autorounders, a Maharashtra-based garage that excels in such conversion projects. The customer drove to their garage from Gujarat, as they wanted to give their Type 3 Fortuner a new look. They opted to convert it into a Legender, and it was not a very difficult job, as the exterior design of the Type 3 and the current Fortuner and Legender are not very different.
Work on the SUV began, and as part of the process, the exterior panels were removed. The bonnet, front bumper, grille, front and rear fenders, and the rear bumper were taken off. The headlamps and tail lamps were also removed as part of the conversion.
The new Legender kit was then brought in, and the team checked whether the panels were fitting properly. If the panels and new parts did not align correctly, minor adjustments were made to ensure there were no panel gaps. After the dummy fit was successful, the car was inspected for any dents or scratches. The team fixed these imperfections, followed by putty work and sanding.
The car was then thoroughly cleaned and taken to the paint booth, where it was completely repainted. Since it was being converted into a Legender, the roof was finished in gloss black, while the lower half was painted in pearl white. The entire car was painted neatly, and a layer of clear coat was applied. Once the paint had dried, the team installed the Legender headlamps, gloss black trims, and LED tail lamps. They also replaced the stock alloy wheels with Legender-style aftermarket units to enhance the overall look.
The customer not only wanted a refreshed exterior but also an upgraded interior. He opted for a premium-looking cabin with light brown genuine Nappa leather sourced from Italy. The seat covers and upholstery were manufactured in-house, and the fit and finish of the materials look top-notch.
The door trims were also replaced to integrate ambient lighting. The gear lever was updated, and the entire cabin received a brown and black dual-tone theme, which looks extremely clean and premium.
The finished product looks like a brand-new Legender that has just rolled out of the production line or dealership.
