A video of a Toyota Innova Crysta crash has been circulating on the internet for the last couple of days. The accident happened in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta, and the person in the car was the Pathanamthitta district collector, Prem Krishna S. The IAS officer escaped this major accident without any serious injuries. In an interview, he mentioned how the seat belt and the locals saved his life.
There are several videos of the same accident available online. The accident happened on 23rd January near the Konni region. A video from the accident spot is available online, and the crash was captured on a CCTV camera installed right outside a house next to the road.
In this video, we see the white-coloured Toyota Innova Crysta of the IAS officer moving through a narrow two-lane road. Suddenly, they spot a Toyota Innova coming from the opposite direction. In fact, the Innova was overtaking not one but three vehicles in front of it. The driver of the IAS officer’s car saw the vehicle but thought that the other car would slow down or move back into its lane.

The driver of the IAS officer’s car kept driving, and when he realised that the other vehicle wasn’t slowing down, he applied the brakes and swerved the car away from it. The vehicle coming from the opposite direction didn’t slow down, and at the last moment, the car crashed into the Crysta. The IAS officer’s car toppled and was left lying on the side of the road.
The other vehicle also stopped after hitting the car. The IAS officer was sitting in the rear seat of the vehicle, and he had a gunman and the driver with him in the car. Thankfully, everyone was wearing a seat belt, and because of this, when the car toppled, they were not thrown around or didn’t hit their head or arms anywhere inside the car.
As seen in the video, the car was lying upside down, and the occupants of the vehicle were safely inside. Soon after the crash, locals gathered and were able to bring everyone out of the vehicle without any issues.
Prem Krishna S said in an interview that only his gunman had suffered minor injuries. Everyone else escaped with bruises. This is once again a good example that shows how a simple safety feature like a seat belt can actually save your life in case of an accident.
If the IAS officer sitting in the rear seat had not worn a seat belt, he would have been thrown around inside the car. He could have hit his head and even injured his neck in the crash. The seat belt ensured that he stayed in place and didn’t end up with serious injuries. After the car stopped, it was also easier for people to help him.
As mentioned above, the Innova that caused the accident had also stopped as it was damaged. A case has been registered against the driver of the other car for negligent and rash driving. As per reports, the four occupants in the other car have also escaped without any injuries.
