Toyota Land Cruiser V8 Gets Aftermarket CNG Kit [Video]
When someone talks about CNG cars, most likely the first car which comes to mind is a Maruti Suzuki WagonR or any other CNG car from MSIL, right? Well, what if we told him that this is a Toyota Land Cruiser out there which has a CNG kit installed? You'd say we have lost our minds, right? Well, not quite; here is a video from an aftermarket CNG kit installation shop which has recently finished installing a CNG kit on a Toyota Land Cruiser with a massive V8 engine.
The video showing the Toyota Land Cruiser getting an aftermarket CNG kit has been shared on Instagram by Let's Go CNG on their page. It is a shop located in Delhi NCR, and the clip starts with the host mentioning that today at their shop they have received this Land Cruiser. From the video, we can note that it is a 100 Series Land Cruiser LC100. He then mentions that they will be installing an aftermarket CNG kit on this SUV.
As per the voiceover, the installation of the CNG kit on the LC100 was not easy. He mentions that, unlike normal cars, this particular SUV comes equipped with a massive 4,700cc V8 motor, which makes it even more difficult to do this job. The person then adds that this car comes equipped with fully automatic hydraulics, and due to this, it only offers a mileage of 3 kmpl.
In addition to the above video, the same shop has shared another reel on the same Land Cruiser V8 in which it tells about the logic behind the CNG kit installation on this vehicle. It starts with the person reading the comments which stated that only a poor person would add a CNG kit on their Land Cruiser. Meanwhile, another person trolled the video by commenting that thank God that they are blind, and many others.
Following which the voiceover highlights that the owner of this particular Land Cruiser used to spend around Rs 40,000–50,000 in fuel costs, as this SUV only offers a mileage of 3–4 kmpl. He added that apart from the fuel cost, another reason behind the installation of a CNG kit on this SUV is E20 fuel. It highlights that as currently 20 percent ethanol is being blended in petrol in India, it is deteriorating older petrol engines.
So, to protect the engine and also save on fuel costs at once, the owner of this Land Cruiser LC100 decided to add a CNG kit to it. Following which the host mentions that currently, after the installation of the CNG kit, this SUV is offering a mileage of around 10 kmpl. The person added that the fuel cost for the owner has come down to Rs 12,000–15,000.
The video then shows the process of the installation of this kit. We can note that, unlike other cars which only get one massive CNG tank in the boot, this vehicle has been given three interconnected CNG tanks. The exact specifications and pricing of this particular kit have not been revealed in the video. However, the mileage has increased, as reported, and it now offers 10 kmpl, which is still low but much better than 3 kmpl.
