The billionaire chairman of the Poonawalla Group, Yohan Poonawalla, has once again made everyone speechless by celebrating the 77th Republic Day of India with a bang. Yesterday, Poonawalla was seen heading a convoy of his ultra-rare and luxury cars, including a few vintage and modern Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis. The entire convoy managed to awe a lot of people on the road.
The video of Yohan Poonawalla and his luxury and supercar convoy has been shared on YouTube by CS12 Vlogs on their page. In this short video, we can note that Yohan Poonawalla was behind the steering wheel of arguably one of the most iconic cars of his collection. He was driving the 1979 Phantom VII that once belonged to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Following this beautiful vintage machine was his other iconic vintage Rolls-Royce—the 1962 Phantom V, which was owned by an ex-ruler of Qatar. Next up in the lineup was his most expensive Rolls-Royce, the Phantom VIII EWB. This particular sedan is finished in the beautiful shade of Bohemian Red, and it is the last EWB Phantom with the privacy suite, for which Yohan Poonawalla paid Rs 22 crore.
The fourth Rolls-Royce Phantom in this convoy was his 2005 Rolls-Royce Phantom VII. This particular model is also very special, as it was the first modern Phantom to come to India after Rolls-Royce made its official comeback into India. He also recently sent this particular car to Dubai to get it fitted with a Mansory kit and other cosmetic upgrades. In addition to these, his Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead was also part of the convoy.
Following the vintage and modern luxury cars of his collection, the convoy also had his rare Ferraris and other supercars as well. The first Ferrari in the convoy was his Ferrari 488 Pista, which is one of 1,100 units in the world, and it is finished in the classy shade of Rosso Corsa with Italian flag racing stripes
Another one of the rarest Ferraris in the world, the 458 Speciale Aperta, also finished in the signature Rosso Corsa shade, was part of the convoy. Only 499 units of the 458 Speciale Aperta have ever been produced. However, what makes Yohan Poonawalla’s Aperta even more special is that it is one of 49 right-hand-drive units from the total 499 produced.
Other supercars that were part of the Republic Day convoy include his Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the popular V12 grand touring SUV, his blue Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which was recently restored to its original specification by Mercedes-Benz India. Additionally, his Ferrari Portofino M convertible finished in Rosso Corsa and his Lamborghini Gallardo finished in Giallo Triplo Strato were also seen cruising.
Apart from the cars seen in the video, Yohan Poonawalla also owns a ton of other unique cars. These include his 1928 17 EX Phantom I, which belonged to the ex-Maharaja of Kashmir; a 1933 Phantom II, which is linked to Sir Malcolm Campbell, an iconic British land-speed record holder; a new and an old Bentley Flying Spur, Bentley Bentayga, Maybach 680, Land Rover Defenders, a helicopter, and many others.
