Electric vehicles are rapidly becoming popular in India. In recent past, we saw many EVs being launched here, especially in the affordable segments- the XEV 9S and Tata Punch.EV facelift are all examples. This momentum is only expected to grow stronger in the coming months. From small hatchbacks and micro-SUVs to larger ones, here are 10 affordable EVs set to launch in India this year.

Kia will officially debut its fourth all-electric offering, the Syros EV, in July this year. It will become the carmaker’s second locally produced EV after the Carens Clavis EV. The two other BEV offerings- EV6 and EV9 are both CBU imports. The all-electric Syros has been spied several times. It is expected to look much like the combustion engine counterpart, except for a few EV-specific details. The Syros is already a feature-loaded SUV. The EV is likely to add more to it.
We expect the Syros.EV to be offered with a 42kWh battery pack and an electric motor that can produce 133hp and 255Nm. When launched, this electric vehicle will compete with the likes of Tata Nexon.EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and more.

The next big launch from Vinfast is going to be the VF MPV 7. With the launch scheduled for April 15th, the manufacturer has already started accepting orders for this electric MPV. The VF MPV 7 will have a sharp focus on maximising interior room and enhancing cabin experience. It will have a boxy silhouette with a flat roofline and large glass areas. The third-row is expected to offer ample room and comfort.
The Indian version is expected to have a higher ground clearance than the one sold in Vietnam. There, the ground clearance is just 170mm. The VF MPV 7 will come with a long list of features- a large touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, level 2 ADAS, ventilated and powered front seats, and more.
The electric MPV is expected to come with a 60.14 kWh battery pack and an electric motor that can make around 201hp and 280Nm. The range will be around 450km per charge.

The Vietnamese carmaker will take a dual approach with its electric MPV. Both private and fleet versions will be introduced. The commercial version will be called the Limo Green. It is reported to get the same battery pack and powertrain. The Limo Green will, however, have less features than the VF MPV 7. As suggested by spy shots, it will even come with a different iteration of the Vinfast logo.

Vinfast is also expected to launch the VF3 here, likely by mid-2026. It will be an electric micro-SUV, aimed straight at the MG Comet. This EV will have a quirky design and a ground clearance of 191 mm. It is available with an 18.6kWh battery pack in Vietnam. The Indian market will likely get larger units offering range figures in the ballpark of 320km per charge. Powering the VF3 will be a 43.5hp electric motor. The prices are likely to fall in the range of Rs 8-10 lakh, ex-showroom. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme is also likely to be offered.

Toyota has officially revealed the Urban Cruiser eBella, a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. Underpinned by the same Heartect-e platform, it will come with two battery packs-49kWh and 61kWh, with the latter claiming a range of 543 km per charge. Price announcement is expected in the coming months.

Tata Motors will launch the highly anticipated Sierra.EV in India on May 19, 2026. When launched, it will be positioned above the Curvv.EV and below the Harrier.EV in Tata’s lineup. The EV version will have a different front fascial and styling details than the internal combustion counterpart. It will be based on the same ARGOS platform as the petrol/diesel Sierra. Tata is likely to offer 55kWh and 65kWh battery packs on this product. Another possibility is of it getting a 75kWh unit, that would place it squarely against the BE6 79 kWh. The Sierra.EV will have All Wheel Drive (AWD) from launch.
Its cabin will likely use a different set of colours and trims, but will stay close to the combustion version’s in terms of kit levels.

Tata Motors is also known to be working on an all-electric version of the Safari SUV. When launched, it will challenge the Mahindra XEV 9S and 9e. Ex-showroom prices could fall in the range of Rs 22.5 lakh-30 lakh, and it will be the carmaker’s first-ever three-row EV.
The Safari.EV will be underpinned by the Harrier.EV’s Acti.EV+ platform and will thus have the TiDAL (Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer) electrical and electronic architecture. As for the battery packs, the Harrier.EV’s 65kWh and 75 kWh units are likely. However, there are reports that the manufacturer is developing a new 80kWh unit. Time remains before more solid information around these surface.

Another expected launch this year is the MG S5. When introduced, it will replace the outgoing ZS EV in MG’s India lineup. The S5 sold abroad has a stylish exterior design and a technology-heavy cabin. It has a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, a wireless charger, and more.
Two battery packs are offered on the global car- 49 kWh and 64 kWh. The Indian version could come with similar sizes and have a claimed driving range of around 500 km per charge.

Mahindra is expected to introduce a new 70kWh battery pack on the XEV 9e and BE6 sometime this year. This battery was first seen on the XEV 9S, and has a claimed range of 600 km per charge. No other changes are expected on the updated electric SUVs. The design and feature list will be the same.
