
With stricter emission norms kicking in, car manufacturers are being forced to dump diesel engines and focus more on petrol-powered options. Some have completely phased out diesel engines, while others continue to offer them as an option. Here, we have a list of SUVs that are expected to be launched in the market with petrol engine options in the market this year.

Mahindra is working on a facelift for its popular SUV, the Scorpio-N. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, and both are turbocharged units. The Scorpio-N’s turbo-petrol engine is a 2.0-litre mStallion series unit that generates 200 PS and 380 Nm of peak torque. It is extremely powerful and fun to drive and is available with manual and automatic transmission options. The Scorpio-N facelift is expected to be launched later this year.

Kia launched the new-generation Seltos in the market this year, and it looks like the brand is planning to introduce top-of-the-line GTX Plus and X-Line (O) variants, which would offer slightly more features than the regular variants. These trims will be offered with turbo-petrol engine options and a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki has been working on a facelift for its popular sub-4-metre SUV, the Brezza, and test mules have been spotted multiple times. As per reports, the Brezza will get minor cosmetic changes and feature updates. It will come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a new 6-speed manual transmission and an automatic gearbox option. The SUV is also expected to get an underbody-mounted CNG tank, similar to the Invicto.

After the Duster, Renault’s next move will be a 7-seater SUV. It will be based on the same platform as the Duster and inspired by the Boreal unveiled internationally. It will be slightly larger and offer three rows of seating. The SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine with manual and 6-speed DCT gearbox options.

The Sportline variant is expected to be introduced in the Skoda Kylaq lineup. It will be a sportier-looking version with blacked-out elements. It will continue with the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque.

The Grand Vitara is expected to receive an update soon, especially after the launch of the Invicto. Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce new features such as ADAS along with cosmetic updates to keep the SUV competitive.

Nissan is also working on a mid-size SUV based on the Duster platform, known as the Tekton. Its design is inspired by the Nissan Patrol, but mechanically it will remain similar to the Duster. It will be offered with 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine options with manual and automatic transmissions.

Skoda launched the Octavia RS last year, and this year it plans to introduce the RS variant of its flagship SUV, the Kodiaq. Skoda has confirmed that the Kodiaq RS will be launched by June 2026. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 265 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.
