Tata Motors recently overtook Hyundai Motor India Limited to become the second-best-selling carmaker in India. Now, in order to make sure that it does not lose its title, it is planning to launch a number of new and updated models in India. Of these, the first will be the facelifted iteration of the Tiago. It has recently been reported that the Tiago facelift is expected to make its debut on May 28th.

Currently, the Tata Tiago is the most affordable hatchback in the company's lineup in India. It rivals popular models like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Citroen C3, and the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Now, with the updated Tiago facelift launch on May 28th, Tata Motors will be able to give the already decently selling Tiago a bigger sales push.

Now, coming to the biggest highlights of the upcoming Tiago facelift, it will be getting an extensively updated exterior as well as interior design. Tata Motors will be offering the Tiago facelift a much sharper and more modern appearance. Starting at the front end, the new Tiago facelift is expected to get a slimmer front grille along with redesigned headlamps.
Spyshots have also showcased that the hatchback will boast a more aggressive and sporty appearance than before thanks to its newly designed front bumper. Now, like most facelifts, the side profile changes will be very minimal. The only highlight will be the addition of a newly designed set of alloy wheels, which will give the hatchback a fresher appeal. It will be a multi-spoke and complex design.

Apart from this, the overall silhouette and dimensions are expected to remain similar to the outgoing model. Moving to the rear end, the test mules have highlighted that it will be getting a redesigned tailgate along with updated LED taillamps. Tata Motors is also expected to provide a much flatter and more aggressively styled rear bumper. Additionally, Tata Motors is also expected to offer a few new exterior colour options as well.
Apart from the exterior updates, the cabin of the Tata Tiago facelift is also expected to receive a number of upgrades. Reports have suggested that the hatchback could get a refreshed dashboard layout along with a redesigned centre console finished with gloss black elements. One of the biggest highlights inside the cabin will most likely be a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

This new unit will offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Tata Motors is also expected to provide a fully digital instrument cluster, as seen on other Tata cars. Apart from this, the Tiago facelift could also get touch-based climate control buttons. The hatchback is also expected to get ambient lighting, an improved sound system with more speakers, and new upholstery and colour schemes. And although it has not been confirmed, it could get a 360-degree camera as well.
Being a mid-life refresh, we can expect the Tiago facelift to offer the same powertrain options as the current model. This means it will continue to offer the same engine options as the current model. These include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine, which produces 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque. Its transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Tata Motors will also continue to offer the CNG version, which produces 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm of torque. Also, the updated Tiago CNG will continue to get the dual-cylinder setup as well. The Tiago iCNG is one of the only few cars in the country which offers an AMT gearbox with a CNG powertrain. Some reports have also claimed that a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine could be introduced in the future. However, it will not be launched on May 28th.

Apart from the ICE Tiago, Tata Motors is also expected to launch the Tiago.ev facelift very soon. Reports have suggested that the company will discontinue the smaller 19 kWh battery pack and make the current 24 kWh battery pack the standard option. Additionally, Tata Motors could offer a larger 30 kWh battery pack, which will offer a claimed range of around 366 km on a single charge.
The updated Tiago.ev is also expected to get a more powerful 6-in-1 i-drive motor, as seen on the Punch.ev. This new setup could produce around 80 to 88 PS and 140 Nm of torque. Apart from this, the hatchback is also expected to support faster DC charging speeds above 50 kW. Exterior design updates will remain similar to that of the Tiago facelift, with EV-specific design cues.
