Although the craze for SUVs is not reducing, it does not mean that manufacturers are giving up on our beloved hatchbacks. There are a number of new hatchbacks that will soon be launched in the country. Today, we are presenting you with the list of 7 upcoming hatchbacks in India. So, without any delay, here are the details.

Tata Motors is all set to launch the heavily updated Tiago facelift and Tiago iCNG on May 28. This will be one of the biggest design updates since its original launch. The new Tiago ICE and iCNG facelift will now get a sharper front fascia with sleeker LED headlamps, a gloss black grille, redesigned bumpers, and new 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Tata has also added a front camera and a 360-degree camera setup for the first time in this segment.
On the inside, the Tiago will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and dual wireless chargers. The biggest talking point, however, is the addition of paddle shifters on the AMT variants. Powertrain options will remain unchanged.
It will still come with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which makes 86 PS and 113 Nm, while the iCNG version will make 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and AMT. Prices are expected to start from around Rs 5.8 lakh and go up to Rs 9 lakh for top-spec iCNG variants.

Tata Motors, along with the ICE Tiago, will also launch the updated Tiago.ev on May 28. Like the standard hatchback, the electric version will offer a much more premium and modern design. It will feature a closed-off grille, a redesigned bumper, LED lighting elements, and updated alloy wheels. The cabin will also remain the same as the ICE version but will get a different colour scheme.
It will also boast the same large touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, digital driver display, automatic climate control, and connected car technology. As for the major updates, they will be on the mechanical side. Tata Motors will most likely discontinue the smaller 19 kWh battery pack and make the 24 kWh battery the standard option. As for the long-range variants, they could get a new 30 kWh battery pack which could offer a real-world range of around 366 km.
Tata is also expected to introduce its newer 6-in-1 electric motor from Punch.ev, and it will produce around 80 to 88 PS and 140 Nm. Faster DC charging support above 50 kW is also expected. The Tiago.ev facelift is expected to be priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 12 lakh, depending on the battery pack and variant.

The South Korean automotive giant Hyundai is also preparing for a major generation change for the i20 premium hatchback. It is expected to make its debut by late 2026 or by early 2027.
A few spy shots from Brazil reveal that Hyundai will offer the i20 with a crossover-inspired design language. The new hatchback will feature a taller stance, larger dimensions, redesigned headlamps, connected LED taillamps, and bigger 17-inch alloy wheels.

It will also be offered with increased ground clearance and a more SUV-like appearance to compete with the Maruti Fronx. On the inside, Hyundai is expected to equip the cabin with curved digital displays, connected car features, ADAS technology, and better cabin materials.
The new model will likely retain the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines. Reports have also suggested that Hyundai could introduce a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor which will be hybrid-ready. Prices are expected to start from around Rs 8 lakh and go up to Rs 14 lakh for top variants.

Maruti Suzuki is currently also gearing up for the launch of the facelift for the Baleno premium hatchback. It is expected to launch sometime in 2026. The current-generation Baleno was launched back in 2022, and now the new facelift will help it remain competitive against rivals like the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.
The upcoming Baleno facelift will come offered with a redesigned front fascia, a sleeker front grille, a revised bumper, and updated alloy wheel designs. Maruti Suzuki is also expected to improve the interior quality with a new cabin theme and better materials. Its feature additions could include ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, an upgraded infotainment system, and improved connected car technology.
The hatchback will continue to offer features including the 9-inch touchscreen, head-up display, and automatic climate control. Mechanically, it will remain the same and offer the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which makes 90 PS and 113 Nm. It will continue with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options along with a factory-fitted CNG variant. Pricing is expected to remain around Rs 6.9 lakh and go up to Rs 11 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to showcase the WagonR Flex Fuel around June 5, which will be World Environment Day. The hatchback has already been displayed at multiple auto expos and will likely become India’s most affordable flex-fuel car once launched. The WagonR Flex Fuel is designed to run on E85 to E100 ethanol-blended fuel.
To support this higher ethanol content, Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the fuel lines, injectors, and engine calibration. The biggest advantage of flex-fuel vehicles is reduced dependence on regular petrol and lower emissions. However, the company will need to price it aggressively to make it attractive to buyers.
The hatchback on the outside will look almost identical to the standard WagonR. However, it will feature flex-fuel-specific mechanical upgrades. Powertrain details are limited, but it is expected to continue offering a modified version of the 1.2-litre petrol engine. Prices could be around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 higher than standard petrol variants.

JSW MG Motor India is preparing to enter the affordable EV hatchback segment with the Binguo EV. This compact electric hatchback is expected to launch in India by late 2026 or early 2027 and will directly rival the Tata Tiago.ev and Citroen eC3.
Internationally, the Binguo EV is sold with multiple battery pack options including 17.3 kWh, 31.9 kWh, and 37.9 kWh units. Its claimed range figure is 410 km for the top-of-the-line battery pack variants. As for its electric motor, it produces around 100 PS and 180 Nm.
In terms of design, the Binguo EV will stand out with its retro-modern styling, dual-tone colour schemes, and premium-looking cabin. MG is expected to heavily localise the hatchback to keep its pricing competitive. The Binguo EV will most likely be positioned in the Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh range.

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast will also soon launch the VF3 electric hatchback. This rugged micro-SUV-inspired car will boast chunky wheel arches, high ground clearance, and upright styling. It will directly rival the MG Comet EV.
The VF3 is expected to get an 18.64 kWh battery pack offering a range of around 210 km on a full charge. Power output is expected to stand at 43.5 PS and 110 Nm. The hatchback will feature a 2-door, 4-seater layout and offer 191 mm ground clearance. VinFast is expected to launch the VF3 in India by the end of this year, with pricing most likely between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 11 lakh.
