Although diesel SUVs are becoming less popular by the day, manufacturers have still not cut them off completely. In the coming period, we will be seeing a number of carmakers launching new diesel SUVs in the country. In total, there will be a total of 8 new diesel SUVs which will hit the Indian market soon. So, if you have been specifically waiting for a diesel-powered SUV, then you might want to hold on for a bit. Here are the details of the upcoming diesel SUVs in India.

Starting off the list with one of the boldest and biggest SUVs, the MG Majestor. This SUV has already been unveiled in India, and later this month it will be officially launched in the country. MG has confirmed that the Majestor deliveries will begin from May. Pricing is expected to start from around Rs 50 lakh, which will make it one of the most expensive diesel SUVs in the segment.
Under the bonnet of this SUV will be a 2.0-litre twin turbo diesel engine making 213 bhp and 479 Nm. It will come paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In terms of features, it will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL sound system, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. Once launched, it will rival the Toyota Fortuner, which has been the segment champion for a long time now.

Mahindra is not slowing down anytime soon, and one of its biggest updates this year will be the facelifted Scorpio-N. This SUV is expected to make its debut around August 2026. The biggest changes will be in terms of design and features. The new Scorpio-N facelift will get a new grille, sleeker LED headlamps, updated bumpers, and new 19-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, expect a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, and ADAS. Mechanically, it will continue with the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, so no major changes there. As for the pricing, it will most likely remain in the range of Rs 14 to 26 lakh.

Following the launch of the Scorpio-N, Mahindra will also be updating the Scorpio Classic. This facelift is expected to arrive later in 2026. It will be more of a cosmetic and feature update rather than a complete overhaul. It will get new LED DRLs, an updated grille, revised bumpers, new alloy wheels, and slightly updated tail lamps.
On the inside, we can expect a better infotainment system and improved fit and finish. It will continue to be powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 130 PS and 300 Nm, paired only with a manual gearbox. It is believed that it will be priced in the range of Rs 13 to 18 lakh.

Mahindra is also working on making the Thar Roxx more accessible. For this, it will be soon launching the new 1.5-litre diesel version. At the moment, the exact launch timeline is not confirmed yet; it is expected to arrive sometime in 2026.
Pricing will most likely fall in the Rs 12 to 16 lakh range. This smaller diesel engine will help bring down the cost and improve fuel efficiency, making the Thar Roxx. As a result of this, it will become a more practical option for a wider audience and could take on the mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, and others.

Kia recently launched the new generation Seltos, and now it is planning to expand the lineup with new top-spec variants. The GTX+ and X-Line (O) variants are expected to be introduced in the middle of this year and will also be offered with the 1.5-litre diesel engine paired with automatic gearbox options.
Pricing is expected to go slightly above the current top variants, crossing the Rs 20 lakh mark. These new trims will come loaded with features like a head-up display, dashcam, along with existing features such as ADAS, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and more. The two new variants will become the most feature-loaded diesel Seltos variants on sale.

Now coming to one of the most awaited launches, the next generation Toyota Fortuner. This SUV is expected to make its India debut around the festive season of 2026 or early 2027. It will be based on the updated IMV ladder-frame platform and will get a completely new design with sleeker styling and new Toyota lettering. Other updates will include bigger 19-inch alloy wheels, new bumpers, and many more.
On the inside, we can expect a larger touchscreen, new steering wheel, and more premium features such as a panoramic sunroof and ADAS, along with others. The 2.8-litre diesel engine will continue. Pricing will likely go from around Rs 36 lakh and could go up to Rs 50 lakh or more depending on the variant.

The Hilux will also be getting a generation update, and it is expected to arrive in India by late 2026. Just like the Fortuner, it will be based on the updated IMV platform, and in India it will continue with the time-tested 2.8-litre diesel engine.
Globally, Toyota will also offer an electric version, but for India, the focus will remain on the diesel powertrain. Pricing will be in the range of Rs 35 to 40 lakh.

The Czech carmaker Skoda is planning to reintroduce diesel engines in India, and the Kodiaq will be one of the models to get it. The Kodiaq diesel is expected to launch sometime in 2026 and will be brought via the CBU route, which means limited units.
It will come powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel and will be paired with an automatic gearbox and AWD system. Feature-wise, it will remain as premium as the petrol version. As for the pricing of the Kodiaq diesel, it will be in the range of Rs 35 to 40 lakh
