
The Chinese automotive giant BYD recently became the fifth-largest carmaker in the world, and it is now planning to increase its market share in India as well. For this, it is planning to launch 6 new cars in India. So, without any more delay, let's jump right into the details of the 6 upcoming BYD cars in India.

This year, BYD will be launching its Sealion 6, which will become the brand’s first plug-in hybrid SUV in India. It is expected to make its debut by the end of 2026 and will be positioned below the Sealion 7. This plug-in hybrid SUV will target buyers looking for a practical family SUV that offers an EV-like driving experience without range anxiety.
The Sealion 6 SUV will come powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and an 18.3 kWh battery pack. It will offer around 80–90 km of pure EV range and a combined driving range of close to 1,000 km. Internationally, the higher variants make over 323 bhp and get AWD. As for the pricing, it is expected to be around Rs 35 to 45 lakh. Its feature highlights will include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Infinity sound system, and Level 2 ADAS.

The BYD Atto 3 has been in the company lineup for a while now. However, it will now be getting a major facelift. Recently, the company showcased the next-generation Atto 3 globally, and this updated SUV is also expected to come to India in the near future. Compared to the current model, the new Atto 3 is significantly larger and more spacious. It now measures 4,665 mm in length and will offer a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.
This upcoming model will be offered with 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh battery pack options and will offer a claimed range of up to 630 km. It has been announced that it will make around 327 bhp of power. One of the biggest highlights of the new Atto 3 will be its flash charging technology. It will charge the battery from 10 to 97 percent in just 9 minutes under ideal conditions. The Atto 3 facelift will be priced around Rs 25 to Rs 35 lakh.

Apart from the mid-size Atto 3, the company will also be launching the Atto 2 in India in the affordable EV SUV segment. This compact electric SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. It will rival models such as the Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Creta Electric.
The Atto 2 will be built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and will come with two battery pack options. These will include 51.1 kWh and 64.8 kWh units. The larger battery version will offer up to 420 km of range, and it will produce 174 bhp and 290 Nm of torque. As for the features, it will be offered with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, Level 2 ADAS, and Vehicle-to-Load capability. Pricing is expected to be around Rs 18 to 25 lakh, with the launch most likely taking place by the end of 2026 or by early 2027.

BYD is also gearing up to launch the updated next-generation Seal electric sedan in India after its global debut. The premium electric sedan is based on BYD’s upgraded e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture and gets a number of design, battery, and technology improvements. In terms of styling, the new Seal will continue to offer its sleek coupe-like silhouette. But it will now gets revised LED headlamps, updated connected LED taillights, redesigned bumpers, and new alloy wheels.
The sedan will most likely come offered with a larger and more efficient 69.07 kWh battery pack which will replace the current 61 kWh unit. BYD claims that the updated model can offer a range of up to 705 km. The new Seal will also offer LiDAR-based ADAS technology, a massive touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and premium interiors. It will be priced in the range of Rs 45 to 60 lakh.

BYD is also gearing up to launch its affordable electric hatchback, the Dolphin EV, in India. This model will become BYD’s entry-level EV in the country and is expected to be priced aggressively between Rs 10 to 12 lakh. The Dolphin will be based on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 architecture and will use the company’s Blade Battery technology.
It is expected to come with 32 kWh and 45 kWh battery pack options, which will offer a maximum range of around 420 km. In terms of features, the hatchback is expected to offer a rotatable touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, wireless connectivity, and Level 2 ADAS safety features.

The upcoming Leopard 8 will become one of the most insane models from BYD in India. BYD has already filed a patent for this rugged plug-in hybrid SUV in India. In terms of design, the Leopard 8 gets a very futuristic and muscular appearance with U-shaped LED headlamps, huge wheel arches, and massive 21-inch alloy wheels.
However, its biggest highlight will be its powertrain. The SUV will come powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with dual electric motors and a massive 36.8 kWh battery pack. In total, it will produce a massive 738 bhp of power and 760 Nm of torque. It will also offer 125 km of pure electric range and support fast charging. It is believed it could be priced in the range of Rs 50 to 65 lakh.
