The Toyota Fortuner enjoys unparalleled acceptance in the Indian market. In the past few years, we have seen its price shoot up, but people still continue to buy it. The rising footfall in its segment has made manufacturers like MG to come up with products like the Majestor. Here are five more Fortuner rivals expected to launch in the coming years.

Volkswagen launched the Tayron R Line in India in February 2026. It seems to have plans to launch a lower-spec, non-R-Line version of the SUV in the coming months. It is expected to be more affordable than the R-Line version and will likely miss out on some of its features as well. The larger design will be similar to the R-Line version. The details will, however, differ. The regular version will have fewer sporty design elements. Inside, the regular Tayron will likely have a different colour scheme and a shorter list of features.
We expect the standard Tayron to be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine (EA888) mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. The power and torque figures are likely to be less than those of the R-Line version. The ex-showroom price could fall in the range of Rs 42-45 lakh.

Skoda is set to launch the Kodiaq RS in the coming weeks. The performance SUV has now made its official India debut and the bookings are also underway. The RS version will be the fastest Kodiaq, capable of doing the 0-100 kph sprint in just 6.3 seconds. In it, the 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine will make 261hp and 400Nm- 60hp and 80Nm more than the regular SUV. Mated to this engine will be a seven-speed DSG transmission. It will have a top speed of 231kph. Additionally, it will have ventilated and slotted disc brakes, progressive steering and Dynamic Chassis Control.
On the design front, the RS version will have more Blacked-out trims, RS-specific bumper, full-width light bar, 20-inch wheels, and four colour options. Inside, it will have sports seats at the front and a feature list that’s largely shared with the standard SUV.
Skoda hasn’t announced the price of this SUV. Being a CBU import, it will likely have a premium price tag. The first batch will be limited to just 50 units.

Skoda is also expected to launch a diesel version of the Kodiaq in India, in the coming years. It will also be a CBU import, brought in limited numbers. On the design and equipment fronts, it is likely to resemble the standard Kodiaq. Powering it will be a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine, capable of producing 198 hp and 400 Nm. It will be offered with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and All Wheel Drive (AWD).

JSW Group’s independent passenger car vertical, JSW Motors, will launch its first product around the festive season. It will be a badge-engineered version of the Jetour T2. The T2 is available with multiple powertrain options in various global markets. Just the plug-in hybrid version (i-DM) will make it to India. The T2-based SUV will have a distinctive design, rugged proportions and a tech-heavy cabin.
The T2’s plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) setup will consist of a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 26.7 kWh battery pack. It will have a combined output of 375hp and 610Nm- much more than the Fortuner’s power and torque figures.

Kia is also preparing to enter the Fortuner’s segment with the Sorento. The vehicle is currently in its road-testing phase. This 3-row SUV will stand close to the global version with its design and packaging. It will have a tall stance and upright design. More importantly, it will come with a long list of features. The Sorento is expected to be powered by a 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine.
