The demand for affordable electric cars in India is going up due to the increasing fuel prices and traffic congestion that makes driving hard. Now, if you are someone who has been waiting on the sidelines to buy an affordable electric car, then soon you'll be having a lot of options. Tata Motors, VinFast, and MG are planning to bring four new electric cars to India which will start at Rs 10 lakh. Here are the details of these upcoming affordable electric cars in India.

Tata Motors launched the Tiago.ev back in September 2022, and ever since then it has only received some subtle updates. However, this year, the company will be launching the Tiago.ev with a much-needed major facelift. Recently, a test mule of this upcoming electric SUV was spotted testing, and it has been noted that it will come equipped with a new headlight design, revised LED DRLs, a new front bumper, and a new grille.
On the side, it will be getting a set of new alloy wheels, but the overall silhouette will remain the same. Like the front, the rear will also be changed. It is expected to get a set of new LED taillights and a new bumper. Tata Motors is also expected to offer the new Tiago.ev with an updated interior with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and other features.
Most likely, the battery pack options of the Tiago.ev will remain the same as the current model. Presently, it comes with a 19.2 kWh and a 24 kWh battery pack offering a range of 223 km and 293 km, respectively. Most likely, it will be launched in the coming few months in India and will rival the MG Comet EV and the Citroen eC3.

To take on the upcoming Tiago.ev facelift, the Vietnamese electric carmaker VinFast is planning to launch its retro-styled mini electric car, the VF3, in India. This unique-looking two-door electric vehicle will get a closed-off grille, chrome bar with the VinFast logo, and halogen headlights. Its overall silhouette will be boxy and will get chunky side claddings, adding to its rugged design.
On the inside, it will come loaded with features including a 2-spoke steering wheel, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual front airbags, manual AC, power windows, and a reverse camera. It is expected to get a single battery pack option of 18.64 kWh offering a range of 215 km and a rear-mounted electric motor making 41 PS and 110 Nm of torque. It is expected to make its debut towards the end of this year with a price tag of Rs 10 lakh.

Apart from the VF3, VinFast is also evaluating the launch of the VF5 electric SUV in India. This SUV will be a more premium offering and will sit above the VF3 and below the VF6 in India. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10–12 lakh and could be making its debut by the end of this year. The VF5 could get two battery pack options including 29.6 kWh (268 km) and 37.23 kWh (326 km).
The former will be offered with a 95 bhp and 135 Nm of torque-producing electric motor. Meanwhile, the latter could get a 136 bhp and 135 Nm of torque-producing electric motor. Both will support DC fast charging. In terms of design, it will look like a smaller version of the VF6 and will get the signature VinFast V-shaped grille, split headlight design, and a simple front bumper. Overall, it will be a very rounded EV SUV and will take on the Tata Punch.ev.

Last on this list is the Wuling Binguo EV-based hatchback which will be launched by MG Motor under a new name. It will rival the Tata Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and the Citroen eC3. It is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 8–11 lakh and come with three battery pack options.
The first will be a 17.3 kWh unit (203 km), then there will be the 31.9 kWh (333 km), and lastly a 37.9 kWh battery pack (410 km). As for the electric motor, it will be a 67 PS and 150 Nm torque-producing motor and will offer a top speed of around 120 kmph. Features of the Binguo EV will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, electric seats, and many others.
