The craze for SUVs is not going to slow down anytime soon, and for this reason, India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has commenced the development of four new SUVs. Over the coming period, the company will be launching these new SUVs to keep its portfolio fresh and varied. So, without any delay, here are the details of all the upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUVs in India.

Just a few weeks ago, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Ignis hatchback, which it sold via Nexa dealerships. Now, it has been reported that Maruti Suzuki is currently working on the development of a new micro SUV which will be replacing the Ignis in India. It has been internally codenamed the Y43. This new SUV will rival the super popular Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, and the Citroen C3.
The Y43 will sit below the Brezza in the company’s SUV portfolio and will most likely be sold through Nexa dealerships. As per reports, the new Y43 could get the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine as the new Swift and Dzire. However, Maruti Suzuki has not yet revealed what powertrain options it plans to offer. It could also be getting a CNG powertrain as well, like its rivals. Pricing will be in the range of Rs 5 to 10 lakh, and the launch could take place later this year or by early 2027.

Another important SUV which is currently under development by Maruti Suzuki is the facelifted iteration of the popular sub-compact SUV, the Brezza. Over the last few months, test mules of the updated SUV have been spotted testing multiple times on public roads with full body camouflage.
The upcoming Brezza is expected to come equipped with revised front and rear bumpers, updated LED headlights and taillights, a redesigned grille, and new alloy wheels. The big changes will most likely be seen on the inside. Maruti Suzuki will most likely offer the Brezza facelift with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the current 9-inch unit.
It will also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a new fully digital instrument cluster, and ventilated seats. In terms of the powertrain, the facelifted Brezza is expected to continue to offer the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and CNG option. However, there are reports which have highlighted that Maruti Suzuki could also add the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine to the lineup. The updated Brezza is also expected to get an underbody CNG tank as well. Most likely, it will be launched in the coming few months.

The crossover SUV Fronx is currently one of the best-selling models in the Maruti Suzuki lineup. It was first launched in 2023, and the company is now preparing to launch its first major update. Recently, heavily camouflaged test mules of the Fronx facelift were spotted testing in India.
It has been noted that the updated Fronx will retain its coupe-SUV silhouette but will now get revised bumpers, a redesigned grille, updated LED headlamps, and new LED tail lamps. It is also expected to get a new alloy wheel design as well. On the inside, Maruti Suzuki is also expected to offer a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, and premium interior materials.
Now, the biggest highlight of the upcoming Fronx facelift will be its new hybrid powertrain. It will be getting a new series hybrid system which will not be like conventional strong hybrid systems, where both the petrol engine and electric motor can drive the wheels. Instead, in this setup, the petrol engine will only act as a generator to charge the battery pack. The wheels will be powered entirely by an electric motor.
This series hybrid system is expected to use the new 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine. It has been reported that with this series hybrid system, the Fronx could offer a range of 35 kmpl. Apart from the hybrid system, the Fronx facelift is also expected to get Level 2 ADAS features as well. We can expect the launch of the Fronx facelift around the festive season of this year.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki does not have a flagship 7-seater SUV in its lineup. However, in the coming months, it is expected to launch a new 7-seater SUV which will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and others. Internally, this SUV has been codenamed Y17.
A few test mules of this upcoming SUV have already been spotted testing on Indian roads. The new SUV will feature a longer wheelbase and stretched rear overhang in order to accommodate the third row of seats. It is also expected to get a more upright rear profile to provide extra headroom in the third row.
The features list of this SUV is expected to be the same as the current Grand Vitara. It will continue to offer a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, heads-up display, and a full suite of Level 2 ADAS features. The SUV is also expected to offer six airbags as standard.
Powertrain options will most likely also remain the same as the Grand Vitara. This means it will get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with the strong hybrid setup. Reports have suggested that it could make its debut around the Diwali festive season or by the end of 2026. Pricing will be in the range of Rs 18 to 25 lakh.
