Honda Cars India launched the facelifted City sedan on May 22, 2026. The new sedan has the same entry prices as the one it replaced, although prices of its higher variants have moved up. Even the facelift continues to be offered with both naturally aspirated petrol and strong hybrid petrol engines. The carmaker has now started commencing deliveries of the new strong hybrid variants. A video of one such delivery has now been shared online.
The strong hybrid version of the City is called the City e:HEV. This video has been shared on the official Instagram handle ‘Whitefield Honda’, a dealer in Bengaluru. The description claims it to be the ‘first delivery’ of the new City.
Interestingly, Honda’s India leadership can be seen taking part in the landmark delivery event. President Takashi Nakajima, Advisor to the President Tasuku Tanaka and Marketing and sales director Yujiro Sugino were all present. The managing director, business head and head of finance & HRD of the Whitefield dealership joined them in commencing the first delivery.

The video first shows the Honda Cars India leadership being welcomed to the facility. Later in the video, we can see the customer- a young lady- being welcomed to the event. She unveils the car- a City e:HEV finished in the newly introduced shade of Black. The customer then receives the key from Honda leadership and another hamper from the dealership MD.
Later in the video, we see a quick tour of the Whitefield Honda showroom- from their showroom floor to the service bays and business centre.

The City e:HEV continues to be the only strong hybrid product in its segment. It competes with the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Hyundai Verna in India. None of them comes equipped with hybrid engines. The City e:HEV stands unique in that regard.
The facelift has given the e:HEV the same changes as the regular sedan. The design has evolved significantly and so has the cabin experience. The overall exterior styling has been made sharper and more up-to-date. The car now gets sleeker LED headlamps, eyebrow-like DRLs, full-width LED positioning lamp that connects DRLs on either side, new grille, a larger air dam, a new front bumper and a clamshell bonnet.
The new City e:HEV rides on 16-inch aero-blade alloy wheels. At the rear, the tail lamp cluster and bumper have undergone notable restyling. The City now comes in six exterior colours including the new Crystal Black Pearl seen in the video here.

Inside, the City e:HEV now gets a new colour scheme. Overall fit and finish have improved. Most of the key touch-points now feature soft-touch materials. The feature list has also been revised. The new car comes with a large, freestanding 10.1-inch touchscreen equipped with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, improved ambient lighting, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera.
Features like the single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, ADAS and telematics from the pre-facelift, have all been retained.

Powering the City e:HEV is a 1.5L Atkinson cycle, strong hybrid petrol engine that makes 126PS and 253Nm. It even has a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.26 kpl. With the facelift, the City hybrid has got more expensive by Rs 1 lakh, as the new model commands an ex-showroom price of Rs 20.99 lakh. It comes with a five-year/1 lakh km warranty coverage for all hybrid components. This should make ownership hassle-free.
