Hyundai, like most brands, has entered the electric vehicle segment and has plans to expand its lineup over the years. While Hyundai has multiple electric and hybrid vehicle options internationally, we have only a few options available in India. Hyundai, during its recent investor presentation last year, spoke about its future plans and gave a glimpse of the upcoming models. One of the models in that upcoming lineup is an electric SUV. The SUV was spotted on our roads earlier this month. We now have a new set of images where the same EV is seen getting charged at a public charging station.
The post have been shared by carxplain on their Instagram page. In this post, we see the Hyundai EV being driven on the narrow Goan roads and getting charged at a public charger. In the pictures, we see a heavily camouflaged SUV with a charger port on the left front fender of the EV. It gets a boxy design and is similar to the older test mules that we saw earlier this year. The video calls it Exter EV but that is not actually correct. This new SUV looks bigger than the Exter EV.

Hyundai had said that they are working on expanding their portfolio, and this new EV is part of the same. While we are yet to get more information about the upcoming EV, it looks like this is going to be a sub-4 meter compact SUV.

From the previous spy pictures, it was clear that the front of the SUV gets Inster-like dotted LED DRLs, a split headlamp setup with an upright bumper and bonnet. It looks boxy, and pixel-like LED tail lamps can be seen in this version of the vehicle as well. The straight window line, boxy design, and roof rails give it an SUV-like look.
Compared to the previous test mules, the latest one gets alloy wheels with a design that we have seen in many modern Hyundai and Kia models. Compared to the previous test mule, this one also gets the rear completely covered as part of the testing. From the older images, we know that the EV will be getting a split integrated spoiler along with a shark fin antenna on the roof.

From the images, it looks like a sub-4 meter SUV, and it is possible that this could actually turn out to be the electric version of the Hyundai Venue or maybe even a new model that is under 4 metres in length. It could be Hyundai’s version of Kia’s upcoming Syros EV too. There are even rumours that this could be Hyundai’s version of the Kia EV2, but the test mule looks shorter while the EV2 is expected to be slightly over 4 metres.
It is going to be one of those Hyundai models where the South Korean brand will utilise its Indian facility for production and would export the models to other markets while also selling the same in India.

The interior of the upcoming Hyundai EV is not clearly visible, but like most Hyundai models, we expect it to come loaded with premium features like leatherette upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, seat ventilation, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a similar-sized fully digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags along with many more standard safety features, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and so on.
Coming to the battery and motor specifications, we don’t have any information regarding the same. However, we assume that the EV will be getting a 42 kWh and a 49 kWh battery pack that will offer a maximum claimed range of over 400 km.

Looking at the test mule, it feels like the electric SUV from Hyundai is almost production-ready. It is possible that Hyundai might showcase the new EV to the public sometime later this year or maybe even next year.
