JSW MG Motor is preparing to bring its iM6 electric crossover to the market by August 2026. The automaker has decided to import the vehicle directly as a completely built unit rather than assembling it locally. Because it will attract full import duties, the crossover is expected to carry an ex-showroom price between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh. Dealerships will officially start accepting bookings for the new model a month earlier in July.

This launch marks a clear separation in how the company wants to sell its more expensive cars. You will not find the iM6 parked next to the brand's budget volume models. It will be sold exclusively through the new MG Select, a separate dealership network designed specifically for the upcoming luxury portfolio. Following the launch of the larger Majestor SUV, this crossover will act as the entry point into that premium showroom space.
Underneath the floorboard sits a massive 100kWh battery pack. In international markets, this battery feeds two very different powertrain set-ups.

The standard rear-wheel-drive version uses a single motor producing 401 brake horsepower and 500 Newton meters of torque. This configuration focuses more on driving distance, returning a claimed range of 625 kilometers on a full charge.
The other option is a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup that pushes the output to a massive 741 brake horsepower and 802 Newton meters of torque. Naturally, that extra power consumes more energy, dropping the claimed range down to 505 kilometers.
Given that the car is arriving as a direct import, the company is expected to bring just one fully loaded specification to keep its inventory simple, though it is not yet confirmed which specific motor configuration will make the final cut for the local launch.

Inside, the design leans heavily into the minimalist, tech-focused aesthetic that dominates modern premium electric vehicles. While the company sells the car with several interior colour options globally, the domestic allocation will exclusively feature a bright white cabin theme. The dashboard is dominated by a large dual-screen setup that handles both the instrument cluster and the infotainment system, complete with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Physical buttons are almost entirely absent. Even the climate control system is operated through a dedicated touch panel. In terms of comfort, the equipment list matches the expected premium price tag. The front seats are heated and ventilated, the rear seats have a reclining function to help on longer journeys, and the roof features a large panoramic glass panel. The cabin also gets a wireless charging pad and a simple three-spoke steering wheel.

One of the more interesting mechanical details of the iM6 is its four-wheel steering system. This is a relatively rare feature in this price bracket and helps shrink the turning circle in tight city traffic while making the car significantly more stable during high-speed lane changes. It also features a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems, relying on cameras and radar to handle active safety and semi-autonomous driving functions.
When it arrives, the crossover will be available in four metallic paint shades. The choices include Arctic White, Black Pearl, Nevis Blue, and Rembrandt Grey.
First shown to the public locally at the 2025 Auto Expo, the iM6 will soon have to justify its heavy import price tag against established luxury electric options already on the market.
