JSW Motor India, which will be the newest entrant in the Indian automotive market, is planning to launch an electric SUV in India, and it will be based on the Jaecoo J5 EV sold in international markets. For those who may not be aware, Jaecoo is owned by Chery Automobiles, which has signed a strategic partnership agreement with JSW MG Motor India. Recently, a detailed video walkaround of the upcoming Jaecoo J5 EV has been shared online.
This walkaround video of the Jaecoo J5 EV has been shared on YouTube by Car Sauce on their channel. Recently, Jaecoo launched the J5 EV in Australia, and most likely it will be the exact same vehicle that will be making its way to Indian shores under the branding of JSW Motors. The presenter highlights that Jaecoo, which is owned by Chery Automobiles, has launched it as its premium electric SUV.

Following this, he then mentions that the most surprising part about this electric SUV is its price tag. The presenter states that currently Jaecoo is offering the J5 EV at an on-road price of $36,990 Australian dollars, which after conversion comes to around Rs 24 lakh (on-road). He adds that this price is only valid for the first 1,000 customers.
After this, the price will become $35,990 Australian dollars, or Rs 23.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, whether the JSW Motors version of the Jaecoo J5 EV will be offered with the same price tag will be revealed in the coming months. Soon after the pricing, the vlogger then starts giving a detailed walkaround of the exterior design of the Jaecoo J5 EV.

He starts by mentioning that most people will note that the Jaecoo J5 EV looks very similar to the Range Rover Evoque and Velar. He then highlights that this is because Chery Automobiles owns a significant portion of JLR in China and has access to its intellectual property and design. Soon after this, he starts talking about the front-end design of this SUV.
At the front, he highlights that the Jaecoo J5 EV gets a very clean and simple-looking fascia. It consists of sleek projector LED headlights with DRLs on both the top and bottom. At the centre, it gets Jaecoo lettering embedded inside a clear plastic element, which gives it a unique appearance. As for the lower portion, the front fascia looks very clean, with a black grille with electrically openable air vents and a BEV badge.

Moving to the side, the Jaecoo J5 EV boasts a Range Rover Velar-like sloping roofline and very smooth body lines in a boxy silhouette. As for the alloy wheels, it gets 18-inch diamond-cut, petal-shaped aero blade alloy wheels. He highlights that the overall length of this vehicle is 4,380 mm, which is around the same length as the Hyundai Creta Electric and other mid-size ICE SUVs.

After this, the host then shows the rear end of this SUV and mentions that the JLR design inspiration can be clearly noted. It boasts sleek LED taillights with Jaecoo lettering in the middle and a simple tailgate with J5 and EV badging. The rear bumper is also very elegant and gets a small black plastic cladding with a small diffuser.

On the inside, the presenter mentions that he is impressed by the overall quality of the cabin. The Jaecoo J5 EV comes equipped with a minimalistic dashboard. Its main highlight is the massive 13.2-inch vertical portrait touchscreen and the smaller 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster. Other notable features include dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a column-mounted gear lever, a panoramic glass roof, and a 480-litre boot space.
In the Australian market, the Jaecoo J5 EV is being offered with a single front-mounted electric motor. It is capable of producing 207 bhp and 288 Nm of torque. Most likely, the Indian version could get the same. As for the battery pack, it gets a 58.9 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, offering a claimed driving range of 402 km on a single full charge. It will also get DC fast charging capabilities up to 130 kW.
