Mahindra's Born Electric SUVs have crossed 50,000 cumulative sales, a milestone that would have seemed ambitious even 18 months ago. The number covers three models: the BE 6, the XEV 9e, and the XEV 9S, all built on Mahindra's ground-up electric platform called INGLO.

The pace of this growth tells a bigger story than the headline number. It took Mahindra seven months to sell 30,000 units, crossing that mark by November 2025. By February 2026, the tally had climbed past 41,000. The step from 41,000 to 50,000 was achieved in roughly six weeks, reflecting both the ramp-up in production capacity and the steadily building order pipeline.
For most of 2025, Mahindra was producing these three EVs at a rate of 5,000 units per month, a cap imposed by factory constraints. That limit was expanded to 8,000 units from March 2026.

The expansion matters because it directly determines how fast the waiting list clears. Buyers who ordered months ago are now getting deliveries faster, and the numbers reflect that.
In March 2026 alone, Mahindra sold 5,217 Born Electric units, up 141 percent compared to the same month last year when the number stood at 2,166. That kind of year-on-year jump is rare even in categories that are considered fast-moving.
The BE 6 is the entry point of the range, priced from Rs 18.90 lakh. The XEV 9S starts at Rs 19.95 lakh. The XEV 9e starts at Rs 21.90 lakh. All three share the INGLO skateboard architecture and are offered with either a 59 kWh or a 79 kWh battery pack. The larger battery claims a certified range of 682 km for the BE 6 and 656 km for the XEV 9e.

The demand has been concentrated at the top trim. When bookings first opened, the 79 kWh Pack Three variant accounted for 73 percent of total pre-orders across both the XEV 9e and BE 6, a clear signal that buyers were not just browsing but were willing to pay for the full experience.

One detail from Mahindra's own data stands out: eight out of ten buyers of these Born Electric SUVs had never owned or even seriously considered a Mahindra before. That makes this less of a loyalty play and more of a conquest. Cumulatively, these cars have covered over 32 crore kilometres on road, and about 70 percent of the fleet is driven over 1,000 km a month.
The charging setup on these cars is worth noting because range anxiety was expected to be the biggest friction point at this price. The BE 6 and XEV 9e support 175 kW DC fast charging, which allows the 79 kWh pack to charge from 20 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes on a compatible charger.
Mahindra also rolled out a free home charger and complimentary public charging credits for early buyers, a policy that helped ease the transition for buyers who had not owned an EV before. Real-world range figures from extended owner drives have consistently come in between 450 and 520 km on the 79 kWh pack under mixed driving conditions, which is close enough to the certified numbers to not cause alarm.
The INGLO platform itself is designed to accommodate up to six electric SUV body styles. Mahindra has already confirmed the BE.07, a larger flagship SUV based on the same underpinnings, for a 2027 launch.

The XEV 4e, aimed at buyers looking for a more affordable entry point with a starting price expected around Rs 13 lakh, is also in the pipeline. Both models will be manufactured at the same Pune facility, which is being expanded to support the higher volumes.
The limited Batman Edition of the BE 6 adds texture to the story. The second batch of 999 units, priced at Rs 28.49 lakh, sold out in seven minutes in March 2026. The first batch had sold out in 135 seconds. Going into FY27, Mahindra's production expansion and the upcoming XEV 4e at a more accessible price point will be the next chapters to watch.
Mahindra is also working on export variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9e for the UK and European markets, with right-hand-drive versions being developed alongside Euro NCAP safety compliance work. If that programme moves on schedule, the 50,000 domestic milestone may look modest when set against the global ambitions the company is now pursuing.
