Mahindra Automotive recently launched the XUV 7XO to replace the XUV700, and so far people have liked it a lot. At the commencement of bookings, Mahindra received over 93,000 bookings for this SUV. Now, during a recent interview, the CEO of Mahindra has revealed that 7 out of 10 buyers of the XUV 7XO have opted for the top-of-the-line AX7T and AX7L variants.
During a recent interview with ETNow, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sectors) at Mahindra and Mahindra, provided some key insights into the development and transformation of the Mahindra SUV lineup. Jejurikar revealed that around 70 percent, or 7 out of 10 buyers of the XUV 7XO in India, are choosing the two top trims of this SUV.

Adding to the insights, the CEO highlighted that buyers are now prioritising premium features and advanced technology. He mentions that the new triple screen setup, as in the XEV 9S and 9E, more advanced digital interfaces, and additional premium features have helped with the popularity of the top-of-the-line variants of this SUV.

Jejurikar elaborated that despite commodity inflation pushing the prices up by 17 percent between 2021 and 2024, the company still decided to cut down the prices of the top-spec trims by Rs 1 lakh. The CEO also mentioned that they have tried to maintain the “sweet spot” which the XUV700 offered.
The two top trims of the Mahindra XUV 7XO which Jejurikar has highlighted are the AX7T and AX7L variants. The former starts at Rs 20.99 lakh. Meanwhile, the latter starts at Rs 22.47 lakh. As for the powertrain options, both of these variants are offered with petrol and diesel engine options.

Powering the petrol version of the XUV 7XO is a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine, which makes 203 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. It comes offered with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This engine only gets the front-wheel-drive layout.

On the other hand, the diesel version gets a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine, which makes 185 bhp and 420 Nm of torque (manual) and 450 Nm of torque (automatic). It also gets the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. Additionally, it is offered with both a front-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive layout.

In terms of the exterior design, the new XUV 7XO comes with a revised grille with eight vertical slats, sleeker LED dual projector headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs, and an aggressive front bumper. On the side, the AX7T variant gets 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the AX7L variant gets 19-inch alloy wheels. The rear design remains the same in both variants, as they get inverted L-shaped LED taillights, a full-width connecting light bar, and a redesigned rear bumper with an integrated skid plate.

Both variants get a 12.3-inch triple screen setup, which comprises a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument gauge cluster, and a passenger infotainment system. They also get a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, an air purifier with a carbon filter, ventilated front seats, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat with memory, a front wireless charger, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
