JSW MG Motor India currently has a strong foothold in India’s electric vehicle space. The primary reason for this is the Windsor EV that continues to be in extremely high demand. MG has no plans to slow down. It, in fact, is planning to double down on EVs. Four new all-electric models spanning multiple segments are expected to launch in the not-so-distant future. Here’s a closer look...

The ZS EV was MG’s first electric vehicle to go on sale here. It first went on sale in 2020 and is now awaiting a replacement. The MG S5 is said to be the possible replacement. This mid-size electric SUV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 22-28 lakh, ex-showroom. It will be larger than the ZS EV and will have a longer wheelbase of 2,730 mm.
The S5 will have a smart interior design and features like a large 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a digital cluster, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and more.

It will be underpinned by the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP). This modular skateboard has a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, and optimized dynamics. Two battery options will be offered- 49 kWh and 64 kWh.
The larger of these will offer a range of 500 km per charge. It will have an electric motor that makes 167hp and 250Nm. The MG S5 will also come with support for DC fast charging up to 139 kW. One will be able to charge it from 10 to 80 per cent in just 28 minutes.

MG is planning to bring its first plug-in hybrid SUV, the Starlight 560 in the coming months. The project is known by the name ‘520’. It will also spawn an electric version. Likely to be called the Eksion, this electric SUV is expected to be sold through MG’s premium dealership network.

The 520 EV will have a 56.7 kWh battery pack and a powertrain that produces 136hp and 200Nm. The EV will deliver close to 500km on a single charge. When launched, it will compete with models like Mahindra XEV 9e, XEV 9S, Tata Harrier.EV and Hyundai Creta Electric- this is again, a high-demand segment. The launch is expected around the festive season.

MG will bring IM Motors, the premium electric car brand, also owned by SAIC Motors, to India in the coming months. Around October this year, the company will launch the first IM model in India- the IM6. It will be a performance-focussed electric SUV which will compete with the likes of Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5 when launched. This segment has been witnessing increased traction in India.

The IM6 will have a sleek design and a tech-heavy cabin. Globally, it is available with both Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) layouts. The former is available with a 408hp electric motor while the latter gets a more powerful, 778 hp dual-motor setup. The AWD version is capable of doing the 0-100 kph sprint in just 3.4 seconds.
As for the battery pack, the international RWD model is offered with a 100 kWh unit with a claimed range of 625 km per charge. On the AWD versiojn, the range drops to around 505km. Likely to be priced around Rs 70 lakh, the IM6 will become MG’s electric flagship here.

As part of its effort to tap further into India’s mass market, JSW MG Motor India will launch the Binguo EV in late 2026 or early 2027. It is a small electric hatchback, aimed at urban buyers and could have its ex-showroom prices in the range of Rs 8-12 lakh. It could then sit in between the MG Comet and the Windsor EV. Key rivals will include the Tata Tiago.EV, Punch.EV and Citroen eC3.
The Punch.EV had recently got a major update, and is now more competitive than before. The Tiago.EV will get a notable facelift on May 28th. Staying competent in the small EV segment is becoming increasingly demanding. MG seems to be aware of the same as well and will likely package the Binguo accordingly.

It is likely to come with multiple battery options- 17.3 kWh, 31.9 kWh, and 37.9 kWh. Range is expected to be between 203km and 410km. The electric motor will produce around 100 hp and 180Nm. These numbers make it ideal for city use. The Binguo will come with a compact footprint and a smart, well laid-out cabin.
