MG Motor India is set to launch the Majestor in India on April 27, 2026. Spanning over 5 metres in length, it is India’s first D+ segment SUV. When launched, it will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and other D-SUVs here. What are MG’s plans beyond the Majestor? In this article, we will talk about the cars and SUVs that MG plans to launch in India after this SUV.

Let’s first talk about the Majestor itself. We recently drove it in Kochi, and even did some hardcore off-roading with it. The Majestor is a capable off-roader and comes with three differential locks, crawl control with selectable speeds, and a host of other electronics. Its 2.0L twin-turbocharged diesel engine makes 213hp and 479Nm and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. All it needs now is a competitive price tag.
MG’s product offensive for the future places a strong focus on new energy vehicles- electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids. Many of these will be sold through the ‘MG Select’ premium retailer network.

IM Motors is a premium electric car brand owned by China’s SAIC Motors. SAIC also happens to be MG’s parent company. JSW MG Motor India plans to bring the IM6 electric SUV to our shores sometime in the near future. Expected to debut around October this year, this electric SUV will likely be priced in the ballpark of Rs 60 lakh. It will then compete with the likes of Hyundai IONIQ 5, Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7 and Kia EV6 here.
Globally, the IM6 is offered with both Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) configurations. The RWD version comes with a 408hp single electric motor while the latter gets a dual motor setup with a combined output of 778 hp. The AWD version can do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 3.4 seconds. The IM6 looks sleek and modern and will have a feature-rich cabin.

MG also has plans to launch the Wuling Starlight 560 plug-in hybrid SUV here. It has been spied testing multiple times, and is expected to remain close to the global model in terms of design. The project is codenamed 520. When launched, the Starlight 560 will become MG’s most affordable Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in India.
It will be powered by a 1.5L plug-in hybrid electric powertrain. This setup will mate a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a front-axle-mounted electric motor and a 20.5 kWh LFP battery pack. It will have a combined system output of 197hp and 230Nm. The SUV will be able to do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 9.7 seconds and will even have an all-electric range of around 125km. The combined range will be 1100 km per tank of fuel.

MG will also launch the electric version of the Starlight 560 SUV. It will have a front-axle-mounted electric motor making 136hp and 200 Nm, mated to a 56.7 kWh battery pack. This setup is claimed to deliver a range of around 500 km per charge. The Starlight 560-based EV will likely launch around the festive season.

The ZS EV was MG’s first electric vehicle in India. It has now started to show its age. The company plans to introduce a replacement in the near future. The S5 sold in global markets, will likely replace the ZS EV here. It will have a sleek, premium design and technology-packed cabin. Globally, the S5 is offered with two battery packs- 49 kWh and 64 kWh. The same could be brought to India as well. We expect it to offer a range of around 500 km per charge.

The Astor did not sell as well as the ZS EV did. However, the carmaker is now planning to replace it with a new SUV based on the SIGMA (SAIC Intelligent Global Modular Architecture) platform. It will have a more modern design and better packaging and will try to match and outperform the likes of the Tata Sierra, second-generation Seltos, new Duster, and the upcoming generation of Hyundai Creta. This SUV is expected to be out in 2027.
