The next-generation Hyundai Creta is now in the testing phase. Mules have been spotted in Korea and India. Recent sightings have revealed more details of the SUV, including its interior.

Recent spy sightings from Korea have confirmed that the new Creta will feature thick LED DRLs. The new Santa Fe and Tucson also have a similar design treatment for their DRLs. On the Creta, there will be an LED light bar connecting DRLs on either side. The bumper will have a more imposing design than the vehicle it is set to replace.
The rear will get a new bumper, restyled tailgate and connected LED tail lamps with pixel-type elements. Recent spy shots have confirmed that the turn indicators will be positioned below the brake lights, and will have an interesting, sleek design. The reverse lights will likely sit on the rear bumper. The new design of the SUV’s alloy wheels is also visible in these images.

These test mules look larger than the outgoing model, as the new Creta is based on the third-generation K3 platform. The outgoing version is underpinned by the K2 architecture. We can also notice the steeper rake of its A and C pillars. The roofline and windowline look different from those of the outgoing model.
It had recently come to light that the next-generation Creta’s design could borrow heavily from the Crater concept that Hyundai had showcased previously. It is expected to get a butch-looking front end with an upright bonnet, a bumper that looks solid, faux skid plate, and other muscular design elements. We may also get to see a thick body cladding around the wheel arches.

Previously, a spy sighting from India had revealed an important detail about the new Creta’s cabin- that it will come with Hyundai’s new-age Pleos Connect screen. Now, another spy shot from Korea has revealed the cabin almost completely. It shows the front seats, dashboard, pleos screens, door pads, stalks and steering wheel of the car.
It confirms that the next-generation Creta will come with Hyundai’s new-age steering wheel featuring the ‘four-dot’ logo. It will have controls for the infotainment system, ADAS and telephony mounted on it. The wheel seems to have an ergonomic design. We have seen this steering wheel in newer Hyundai models like the new Verna and second-generation Venue.
Many of the primary touchpoints seem to have soft-touch materials and premium trims, although we will need better images to confirm the same.

The outgoing Creta comes with 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation functions. As seen in the spy shots, the new SUV will get a large central display. We don’t know the exact size of this screen. There are chances of it being a 17-inch unit. It will act as the primary display for Pleos Connect. It will have intuitiveness and simplicity as its core philosophies and will have a user interface that aligns perfectly with the same.
The central screen will have three core sections- driving information screen, app screen and the bottom bar. The first will display driving-related data. The app screen can be used for infotainment duties and the bottom bar gives easy access to recent and pinned applications. In addition to the central screen, Pleos Connect will also have a sleek display for the driver, that will show essential information like speed and turn-by-turn navigation instructions.

Moving to the K3 platform will allow the new-generation Creta to feature more software-driven functions. The overall safety and crashworthiness will also increase on the new model. At launch, the new SUV is likely to feature the same engine and transmission options as before.
It will have two petrol (1.5L naturally aspirated and 1.5L turbocharged) and a diesel (1.5L turbocharged diesel) engine. They will all offer the choice of manual and automatic transmissions. A newly developed 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain will be added to the lineup later.
