Hyundai has lately been teasing the next-generation i20. The car has now been leaked ahead of its global debut. Leaked images give us a close look at its interior and exterior design.

Hyundai Motor Company is an official partner of FIFA World Cup 2026. Mascots of FIFA can be seen in some of these images. The exterior design of the vehicle has now been fully revealed. This seems to be the most radical evolution of the i20 yet. The overall styling has moved more towards the ‘crossover’ side of things. The outgoing model has a low-slung, sporty stance whereas the new model adopts a taller, more upright appearance. It appears to be larger as well.
The next-generation i20 has a cleaner front end. It looks more modern and has sleek headlamps featuring integrated Y-shaped LED DRLs. There is also an LED light bar connecting DRLs on either side. The bumper looks cleaner and more minimalist than the one on the outgoing model. The Hyundai logo sits on the bonnet, near the nose- just like the current car.

Clean lines and smooth surfaces can be seen along the sides. The car gets conventional pull-type door handles, and not flush-type ones. The A and B pillars have been blacked out, adding more character to the design. New wheels (likely 17-inch units) can also be seen. Bold Black cladding can also be seen along the sides.

The rear now has a more layered appearance. The tailgate has a unique styling. The LED tail lamps look sharp and are connected by a full-width LED light bar. This highlights the car’s width and stance further. The rear bumper has a shouty appearance, as well. The crossover nature of this design peaks here.

A few images of the interior have also surfaced. The dashboard design seems to have undergone a major overhaul. A panoramic display cluster can be seen. This combines two large displays functioning as the central touchscreen and the driver’s display- both likely 12.3-inch units. This setup would remind you of the second-generation Venue that’s now on sale here.
The touchscreen has physical controls placed nearby for hassle-free access. A previous teaser had hinted that it would come with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There will also be support for connected car features.
As can be seen in these images, the AC controls get a portrait placement. The steering wheel seems to have a design similar to those of newer Hyundai models. The door trims now feature a dual-tone colour scheme. Circular speaker elements can be seen on doors. Overall, the interior looks modern and more sophisticated than before.

The new design isn’t just about aesthetics. The taller roofline and upright stance are likely to generate better headroom and more space inside. One of the images even shows the boot space. It appears more spacious and practical than before. Rear seats continue to get split folding function.
Hyundai has now released a new teaser film featuring the three mascots of FIFA 2026 World Cup, alongside the new i20. It shows Clutch, Zayu and Moose- the three mascots- checking out the new hatchback.
Hyundai hasn’t revealed any technical details of the next-generation i20 yet. In India, we expect it to retain the outgoing car’s engine options- 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol for the regular version and a 1.0L turbo-petrol for the N-Line. Hyundai is also known to be working on a 1.2L turbocharged engine, which could be introduced on the new i20, although the same hasn’t yet been confirmed officially.
