The Hyundai i20 hatchback is set to get a full generational update globally. It was just days ago that the carmaker released the first official teaser of the upcoming car. Now, the next-generation i20 has been teased again- this time showing more details of its lighting signature.
The 15-second teaser video has surfaced on the official Youtube channel of Hyundai Brazil. It mainly shows the front and rear lights of the new i20. We get a clear view of the headlamp design, design of the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) and that of the tail lights. All these seem to be LED units.

The new i20 will undergo a major design overhaul. It will come with a fresh front fascia. The headlamps will feature Y-shaped LED DRLs, as can be seen in this video. These will be connected by a full-width LED light bar. This will add more character to the design. The Hyundai logo will sit on the nose, just like it does on the outgoing version.

The rear end will also be fully redesigned. As revealed by the video, the tail lamps will feature a sharp styling and will have LED elements inside. They will also come with a connecting light bar.

The latest teaser has revealed key details of the lighting signature. Being a full generational update, the rest of the design will also evolve significantly- the car will come with new bumpers, new wheels and even redrawn body lines. The window line will rise sharply towards the rear of the vehicle, giving it a more dynamic appearance.
The overall stance and road presence are likely to improve on the new i20. The larger design is said to move more towards the ‘crossover’ territory. More ground clearance, steeper A and C pillars, a more upright stance and possibly larger wheels. There will be prominent wheel arch claddings as well. We may even see the car grow in size- it could get longer, wider, taller and even come with a longer wheelbase. Details on this front remain sparse.

Inside, the new i20 will have a new cabin design and a revised feature list. It will feel more modern and the material quality will improve significantly. On the equipment front, we may see the introduction of new, larger screens.
The outgoing model has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and an 8-inch instrument cluster. The new model could come with a curved display instead. The next-generation hatchback is also expected to come with support for wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and more connected car features.
It is also likely to feature ventilated front seats and an ADAS suite. Several features offered on the outgoing version will also be retained on the new model.

Now, the i20 is sold with two engine options- the regular version has a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine while the sportier i20 N Line comes with a more powerful 1.0L turbocharged petrol unit. We may see the new model using the same set of engines.
Hyundai is, however, known to be developing a new 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, which is also likely to be offered on the new i20. It will be hybrid-ready and if so, we may see a strong hybrid version of the hatchback rolling out sometime in the future.
The new-generation i20 is likely to go on sale in Brazil in the coming months. Hyundai hasn’t revealed any details of its India launch plans yet.
