Nissan is set to debut the much-awaited Tekton mid-size (C-segment) SUV in India on July 9, 2026. This is an important product for the company and will play a key role in its sales revival here. The Tekton is essentially Nissan’s version of the third-generation Renault Duster that’s currently on sale. With the launch being just a month away, a near-production-ready Tekton has been spied testing in Bangalore. The set shows the front, side and rear views of the vehicle.

In these images, we see a camouflaged Tekton parked somewhere in Bengaluru. They were captured at night. Low light limits our ability to draw conclusions about the design details to some extent, so does the camouflage! Even so, the Tekton seems to have the same upright stance as the Renault Duster. It has a bold design and a boxy profile.
Look closely and we can see hex-styled wheel arches with bold cladding and large (camouflaged) wheels. The SUV also has a flat roof and shark fin antenna. Like you see on the Duster, the rear door handles sit on the C-pillar.

The rear has a bold bumper, raked windshield and an integrated roof spoiler. Previous teasers had revealed that the production form will come with C-shaped connected LED tail lamps. These are completely concealed on the test mule.
The front end, again, has heavy camouflage. We can, however, see the headlamp design. It seems to be different from what you get on the Duster. The Tekton will also come with LED DRLs and a full-width lightbar at the front, as has been confirmed by teasers already. It will also have ‘TEKTON’ written on the bonnet in big letters. The vehicle will have a large grille, the details of which are not visible in these images. The front will also have prominent C-shaped inserts on the bumper, parts of which can be seen if we examine these images closely.

Inside, the Tekton is expected to feature a Nissan-specific design. There will likely be good use of premium trims and conscious attempts to showcase ‘fine Japanese craftsmanship’. The carmaker hasn’t revealed the cabin design yet. So, it is difficult to comment more on that front.
What we do know is that the feature list will largely be shared with the Duster. It is likely to come with almost all equipment that the Renault currently offers.
The new Duster is, in fact, tech-heavy. It comes with a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, powered tailgate, 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, built-in Google integration, six-speaker Arkamys audio, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control with rear vents and front ventilated seats, 48-colour ambient lighting, level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and more.

The Tekton will be underpinned by the same RGMP platform as the Duster. It will use the same set of engines as well- 1.0L turbo-petrol and 1.3L turbocharged petrol. The former will make 100 PS and 160 Nm while the latter will have an output of 163 PS and 280 Nm. The 1.0L engine will only be offered with a manual gearbox while the 1.3L unit will offer 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT options.
The SUV will also get a 1.8L strong hybrid engine in the near future. This will mate a 1.8-litre petrol petrol engine with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack.
Nissan’s original plan was to unveil the Tekton in February this year. This later got pushed to July, which we think, would be a launch window that would be more rewarding. Once out, the Tekton will compete with the likes of Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and other C-SUVs. Its pricing could stay close to that of the Duster.
