Nissan has been working on its all-new mid-size SUV, Tekton, for a while now. The SUV, as we all know, is Nissan’s version of the recently launched Renault Duster. The Nissan Tekton has been spotted testing on our roads multiple times, and Nissan itself has also released the official launch date. Nissan will be officially launching the SUV on 9th July, and before the official launch, it has now released a new teaser video in which the front of the SUV is completely unveiled.
The video has been shared by Nissan India on its Instagram page. In this video, Nissan is officially unmasking the front look of the Tekton SUV. They are also calling it the Baby Patrol for obvious reasons.
From the teaser video released, we can see the similarities with the flagship Nissan Patrol. Nissan has gone for a wide front grille with sleek LED headlamps that are rectangular in shape. The LED DRLs are actually 7-shaped and are probably dual-function units. The front grille of the SUV is what gives it a Patrol-like stance, and we see a red trim dividing the grille into two halves, with the Nissan logo in the middle.
We also see a connected LED bar that is aligned with the DRLs. The SUV comes with a muscular-looking bonnet with a bonnet scoop too. Tekton branding on the bonnet of the SUV is also visible here. Although not very clear in the video, the Nissan Tekton is expected to come with a muscular-looking bumper with a silver-coloured faux skid plate at the bottom.

This would complete the front look of the vehicle. We can also see the integrated roof rails along with the wing mirrors in the teaser. The Nissan Tekton is based on the same platform as the Duster. Except for the exterior design, both SUVs would be the same mechanically.
The Nissan Tekton will come with different-looking C-shaped LED tail lamps along with a connected LED bar. Just like the front, the SUV is expected to come with a sculpted rear bumper, and it will retain its overall boxy design. We also expect to see an integrated spoiler, shark-fin antenna, along with Tekton branding on the tailgate.
The cabin of the Nissan Tekton is expected to be more or less the same as the Duster. We expect to see a dark-themed cabin with a driver-centric touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, seat ventilation for front passengers, leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, rear-seat privacy curtains, and so on.
In terms of engine options, Nissan will initially offer the Tekton with two engine options. There would be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that generates 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque. This engine would come with a 6-speed manual transmission only. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine is the next option, generating 163 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque. This engine would be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT gearbox option. Nissan would also offer a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine, but that is expected to be launched at a later stage.
The Nissan Tekton is an extremely important product for the brand in India, as its sub-4-metre SUV, the Magnite, has been doing the heavy lifting for the brand for a very long time.
