Nissan was struggling in India for a very long time, as its only product on sale was the sub-compact SUV Magnite. However, things are changing, and it has added the Gravite affordable MPV to its lineup, and soon it will be adding a number of more cars. Of these, four will be mid-size and sub-compact SUVs, which will help it gain more sales volume. So, without wasting any of your precious time, here are the details of the upcoming mid-size SUVs from Nissan India.

The first SUV that Nissan will launch in India will be the all-new Tekton. For those who may be living under a rock, this upcoming mid-size SUV will be based on the new-generation Renault Duster. Nissan has already revealed teaser images of this SUV, and its official launch is scheduled to take place on 9th July this year.
Now, although the Tekton will share its platform and mechanicals with the Duster, it will get a completely different exterior design. Nissan has taken inspiration from its flagship SUV Patrol for the styling of the Tekton. As a result, it will get a more rugged and muscular appearance compared to its Renault cousin.
In terms of features, the Tekton is expected to offer almost everything that is offered with the Duster. It will come equipped with automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, a large driver-centric touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery, and many other premium features.
As for the powertrain options, Nissan will offer the Tekton with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. The smaller engine is expected to come paired with a manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the bigger engine will get both manual and DCT automatic transmission options.

After around six months of launching the standard Tekton, Nissan will also launch the strong-hybrid version of this SUV. Most likely, this model will make its debut by early 2027. This hybrid SUV will be targeted towards buyers who want better fuel efficiency without compromising on performance.
The Tekton Hybrid is expected to get the same 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a hybrid system as the upcoming Duster Hybrid. Its combined power will be 160 PS and 172 Nm of torque. It will also feature a 1.4 kWh battery pack, which will help improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption in city driving conditions.
One of the biggest highlights of this SUV is that, according to Nissan, the vehicle can operate in EV mode for up to 80 percent of the time in the city. As a result, it will become one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its segment once launched.

Apart from the Tekton, Nissan is also preparing to launch its own version of the upcoming Renault Bridger. For those who may not be aware, Renault showcased the Bridger concept a few months ago and will be launching its production version next year, soon after which Nissan will also launch its own version of the SUV.
Both SUVs will share the same platform and will be manufactured in India. However, Nissan will differentiate its version with a unique exterior design. Nissan is expected to offer this SUV with naturally aspirated petrol and turbo-petrol engine options. As for the pricing, it will be in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.

The last SUVs on Nissan's launch lineup are the hybrid and electric versions of the Bridger-based SUV. As per reports, the Bridger is being developed as a multi-energy vehicle. This means it will be able to support petrol, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains.
The hybrid version is expected to use a 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with an electrified system. It will become an alternative for buyers who want lower running costs but do not want to commit to an EV.
Apart from the hybrid version, Nissan is also expected to launch a fully electric version of the Bridger SUV at a later stage. At the moment, battery pack details, range figures, and performance specifications have not been revealed.
