Nissan, for the last few years, was only surviving in India with a single product in its lineup. However, this year, the company has already launched a new product, and more new models are in the pipeline. These will include a mid-size SUV, a 7-seater based on that SUV, and a new sub-4m electric SUV. All of these will offer lower running costs than diesel-powered SUVs, and if you want to know the details about these upcoming models, then be sure to read till the end.

The first SUV on this list, which will be cheaper to run than a diesel SUV, will be the Nissan Tekton Hybrid. Based on the CMF-B architecture of the Renault Duster, later this year Nissan will be launching the Tekton with a strong hybrid powertrain. Its design will be inspired by the flagship Nissan Patrol SUV and will boast a large front grille, C-shaped LED DRLs and headlights, chunky claddings, and connected LED taillights.
On the inside, it will come loaded with features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker Arkamys audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, an electronic parking brake, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents.
Now, coming to the main highlight, which makes it cheaper to run than a diesel SUV, will be its strong hybrid powertrain. It will come equipped with a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, which will be assisted by two electric motors. There will be a 20 bhp motor which will act as a generator, and there will also be a 49 bhp electric motor that will power the wheels. This strong hybrid system will also comprise a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which will offer 160 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.

In addition to the Tekton Hybrid, Nissan will also be launching the 7-seater version of the Tekton in India. It will boast a longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row of seats and will most likely also feature a few exterior design differences as well. Most likely, it will be launched in 2027 and will be priced in the range of Rs 18–25 lakh.
Like the Tekton, it too will be getting the same 1.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine, which will be assisted by two electric motors. The power figures will also remain the same as the Tekton. Once launched, it will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-seater, which has been spotted testing recently.

Renault recently unveiled the concept of its Bridger EV, which will be an electric sub-4m SUV. Now, being Renault's strategic partner, Nissan will also be launching its own EV based on the Bridger. This SUV will utilise the R-GMP platform, which has been derived from CMF-B. It will feature a completely new E&E architecture, which will support EV, hybrid, and petrol powertrains.
In terms of design, it will boast boxy, rugged SUV styling with an upright bonnet, squared wheel arches, roof rails, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and rectangular LED DRLs, which will be integrated into the grille. Other notable highlights will include vertically stacked LED tail lamps. On the inside as well, it will be feature-loaded and get an overall futuristic cabin.
Currently, there is no detailed information on the electric powertrain of this SUV. However, most likely, it could get a few battery pack options and a front-wheel-drive electric motor. The launch will most likely take place in 2027, with pricing in the range of Rs 10 to 20 lakh.
