2027 could turn out to be a mega year for Renault India. The carmaker plans to commence as many as five big launches next year. These include petrol, CNG and hybrid offerings. Renault is clearly laying the groundwork for a serious comeback in the Indian market. Here’s a closer look

The Kwid, Renault’s entry-level hatchback, will get a major update next year. It will move to the new Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP), from the aging CMF-A architecture. This shift will bring about tangible improvements. These will be particularly visible on the CNG variants. These will come with factory fitted CNG setups with underbody-mounted tanks that do not eat into the boot space. The new Kwid will also see a design refresh and will come with more features.

Renault Triber, the MPV known for its value-centric nature, will also transition to the RGEP platform. This would address one of its biggest limitations- the CNG version lacking usable boot space. On the new model, the CNG tanks will be mounted on the vehicle underbody. The vehicle is likely to retain the current model’s 1.0-litre petrol engine, and manual and AMT automatic transmissions. Furthermore, an AMT option is likely to be offered on the CNG version as well.

The Kiger last got a facelift in August 2025. Another update is likely to be rolled out next year, which will introduce the new RGEP platform on this vehicle. At present, Kiger can be had with naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. These are likely to be retained on the upcoming model as well. It will also replace the dealer-level CNG kit of the current model with a factory fitted unit with underbody-mounted tanks. The CNG variant could also see the addition of an automatic transmission option.

One of the most ambitious projects in Renault’s pipeline is the Bridger, led by the Renault Group India CEO himself. Showcased in concept form in March this year, the Bridger has already attracted a lot of attention. The production form will become the carmaker’s second sub-four metre SUV in India.
The Bridger will be based on the more advanced Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), which also underpins the new Duster. Renault will take a multi-powertrain approach with this SUV. It will have petrol, CNG, and strong hybrid versions. The first of these, most likely petrol, is expected in 2027.
The petrol version will likely have two engine options- 1.2 naturally aspirated petrol producing around 90hp and a 1.2L turbocharged petrol making around 120hp. The CNG is likely to be introduced soon after the petrol version.

Renault is also working on a seven-seater C-SUV based on the Duster platform (RGMP). Expected to launch sometime next year, it will have two engine options on offer- 1.3L turbocharged petrol and a 1.8L strong hybrid petrol. Going by previous spy sightings, this SUV will stand close to the Bigster sold abroad, with its design. It will have a roomy, comfortable and tech-heavy cabin. Many of the features will be shared with the five-seater Duster.
Renault seems to have a clear and structured approach with these products. It is not just updating its lineup here, but rebuilding it with a long-term vision, and in a way that it aligns better with customer expectations and evolving preferences.
