Renault, in its recently concluded Strategy Day conference, unveiled the official concept of its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV, the Bridger. The French car manufacturer, as part of its new strategy for India, has decided to reintroduce the iconic Duster SUV in the market. After the Duster, Renault recently shared its plans to enter the extremely popular and competitive sub-4 metre SUV segment. As part of this, they even released a teaser image of the Bridger concept last week. Here’s what we know about the Bridger concept that was unveiled today.

Renault Bridger’s patent images had recently surfaced online. The concept unveiled today looks similar to the patent images. The Bridger concept takes inspiration from the Boreal SUV from Renault. The concept retains a boxy design with an upright stance. The LED headlamps on the Bridger concept look similar to the ones seen on the Boreal. The front grille gets a thick front nose integrated into it.

The triangular LED headlamps are actually designed in such a way that they look like a part of the front grille. The front bumper looks almost vertical, with a faux skid plate and a sleek-looking lower air dam. The bonnet is chunky, and so are the front fenders.
Moving to the side, you notice the SUV comes with thick black claddings around the wheel arches that give the vehicle a strong SUV character. The boxy design is visible from the side as well. The SUV concept showcased here is finished in a shade of champagne with a gloss black roof. The SUV comes with pull-type door handles and a door handle integrated into the C-pillar for the rear doors, similar to the Duster. There are elements on the roof that look like roof rails too.

Just like the front, the rear also gets an almost vertically chopped-off design. The tail lamps on this concept are LED units, and it uses a split or vertically stacked design which looks unique. The Defender-like flared rear fender and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, along with a muscular-looking rear bumper, all add to the SUV character.
We do not get to see how the cabin of the Bridger concept looks, but we expect it to be similar to current-generation Renault models.

The Renault Bridger is going to be based on the R-GMP architecture. With the Bridger concept, Renault aims to come up with an SUV that is compact, agile, safe and affordable. The Bridger concept SUV has been developed in such a way that it looks compact on the outside but offers an extremely spacious cabin.
It has been developed for markets like India where the population is on the rise and more people require personal mobility. In such countries, a compact SUV like the Bridger concept makes sense as it is under 4 metres and, despite its compact dimensions, offers ample space for occupants and even a boot space that is close to 400 litres.
The Bridger concept is being developed as a true multi-energy vehicle. What this means is that the Bridger will be offered with petrol, turbo petrol, hybrid and even an EV powertrain. The Bridger concept is being developed by Renault’s team in India at their Chennai plant, and the SUV will first be launched in India and later made available in other markets.

Renault, during the conference, said that they are looking at India as the heart of the Bridger concept and aim to build the SUV and start production next year. As per reports that were available earlier, the production version of the Bridger concept is expected to be launched by the festive season in 2027.
With the official announcement made, we hope to see test mules of the Bridger concept SUV on our roads soon.
