The Tata Nexon.ev is one of the most successful electric cars in India. For a very long time, it was the best-selling EV SUV in India. Tata Motors, in order to keep this EV SUV up to date, offers it with OTA updates. Most recently, a video has been shared online in which the owner of a Tata Nexon.ev 45 kWh shows the newly added safety feature of the blind spot monitoring system in his SUV after the update.
The video showing the new update of the Tata Nexon.ev has been shared on YouTube by Harsh Explorer on their page. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that Tata Motors has recently rolled out a new Over-The-Air (OTA) update for the Nexon.ev, after which, in the middle of the video, he shows what the new safety feature update actually is.

The vlogger has added a clip which explains that Tata Motors has given the same blind spot monitoring system to the Nexon.ev as the Curvv.ev. He then elaborates that earlier, when a turn indicator was engaged, the camera feed from the ORVM was displayed on the central touchscreen infotainment system. However, after the update, in the blind spot monitoring system settings, there is a new option.
With the new update, Nexon.ev owners can now select the feed of the ORVM camera to be displayed on the digital instrument gauge cluster instead of the infotainment screen. The person showing the update highlights that this is very useful, as earlier, after engaging the turn signal, the entire screen used to get covered with the camera feed, which distracted the driver a lot. However, it has now become very convenient.
As mentioned above, OTA stands for Over The Air updates. Most major automakers are offering their vehicles with connected car technology and OTA update capabilities. Now, for those wondering how these OTA updates work, the vehicle connects to the internet using an in-built SIM card or Wi-Fi, following which the manufacturer provides a software package to the car.

The owner of the car then gets a notification on the infotainment screen or their mobile app, after which the update gets downloaded by the vehicle and gets installed automatically after the approval of the user. For those wondering, these updates can improve a lot of things. These include performance, bug fixes, and adding new features such as new driving modes, better navigation, improved voice assistant, additional connected car features, and new UI themes.
Additionally, in the case of electric vehicles, manufacturers also improve the battery and charging optimization. With these updates, battery thermal management, charging speed logic, and battery health protection systems can also be improved. Also, like shown in the video above, a lot of times safety features can also be updated.
