Tata Motors, which is currently India's largest EV automaker, is gearing up for the launch of a new EV SUV in the country. This SUV will be none other than the Tata Sierra.ev. The company has already showcased the Sierra.ev a number of times before, and it has now been confirmed that the company will launch it this month.

As for the deliveries of the Sierra.ev, they will most likely commence a few weeks after launch. The soon-to-be-launched Sierra.ev will slot in between the Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev in Tata Motors' electric vehicle lineup. And once launched, it will be taking on popular rivals, including the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, Maruti e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, and the VinFast VF6.
Now coming to the design of the upcoming Sierra.ev, the test mules of this EV SUV have shown that it will be offered with the same silhouette as the ICE-powered Sierra. However, Tata Motors has made a number of changes which will help in distinguishing the electric version from its petrol and diesel sibling.
The biggest change that will be seen will be at the front. The Sierra.ev will get a completely closed-off body-coloured front grille. It will give the SUV a cleaner and more futuristic appearance. It will also get the same connected LED light strip running across the front fascia and the same split headlight setup. The SUV will also get LED fog lights and cornering lights as well.

From the side, the Sierra.ev will be almost identical to the standard Sierra. It will continue to feature the signature Alpine-style rear quarter glass, flush-fitting door handles, large ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, and muscular body cladding. The only major difference will be the new set of aerodynamic alloy wheels, which have been designed specifically for the EV.
As for the rear-end design, the Sierra.ev will come equipped with a full-width LED light bar along with sleek LED tail lamps and turn indicators. The SUV will also feature a roof-mounted spoiler, rear defogger, and a rear wiper, which will be hidden underneath the spoiler to give it a cleaner appearance.

Recently, a few leaked spy images have given a glimpse of the Sierra.ev's cabin. It has to be noted that the test mule which was spotted was a lower variant. The images showed that the SUV was equipped with a large touchscreen infotainment system, which is expected to be a 12.3-inch unit similar to the one seen on the ICE Sierra.
It also had a fully digital instrument cluster, which most likely will be a 10.25-inch screen. As per the reports, the top-of-the-line variants of the Sierra.ev will get the same triple-screen setup as the ICE Sierra. The images have also shown that the SUV will get a 360-degree camera system, a drive selector, an electronic parking brake, drive mode controls, and additional storage spaces.

Other notable highlights of the cabin of the Sierra.ev will include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
The Sierra.ev will also get connected car technology, a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate, rear sunshades, an electronic parking brake, a Head-Up Display, Level 2 ADAS, and OTA software updates. Most likely, it will also be offered with Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-To-Load charging capabilities as well.

Tata Motors has currently not revealed the battery specifications of the Sierra.ev yet. However, reports suggest that the SUV could be offered with two battery pack options, including 55 kWh and 65 kWh battery packs. However, there is also a possibility that Tata could borrow the larger 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs from the Harrier.ev as well.
As for the range, the Sierra.ev is expected to offer a claimed driving range of up to 500 km. Additionally, it is believed that the top-of-the-line variants of this SUV could get a dual-motor setup and offer an All-Wheel Drive system as well. Most likely, Tata Motors will price the Sierra.ev in the range of Rs 20 to 25 lakh.
