Three hotly-anticipated mid-size SUVs went on sale in India in the past few months- the new Tata Sierra, second-generation Kia Seltos and the new Renault Duster. These have attracted a lot of attention with their smart packaging and competitive pricing. More importantly, they have managed to impress many with their respective designs. A video has now surfaced online, showing the road presence of each of these models.
In the short-form video shared on the channel Car4U, we can see a Duster, finished in Mountain Jade Green driving alongside a Tata Sierra and the new Seltos. The three SUVs have entirely different approaches to design.
Look carefully and you will notice the slight difference in their dimensions. The second-generation Seltos is 4,460mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,635mm tall. The Sierra, on the other hand, is 4,340 mm long, 1,841 mm wide and 1,715 mm tall. The Duster measures 4,346 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width, 1,703 mm in height. The Sierra is clearly the tallest among the three. The same can be seen in the first clip.

When driving alongside the Duster, the Sierra feels visibly taller. The Duster, however, looks taller than the Seltos. The Kia also feels much narrower in comparison, but makes up for it with its bold styling and has almost the same road presence as the Duster. All three SUVs attract a lot of attention with their respective designs and seem to have comparable road presence. There is little room for complaints on this front.

The video shows the front view of these vehicles. We can, however, get an idea of their respective ground clearances. The Seltos looks the closest to the ground. The ground clearance in this case is just 200mm. Both the Sierra and Duster stand higher. The Duster, in fact, has the best ground clearance in this segment- 212mm. 7mm more than the Sierra’s 205mm.

The Duster, Sierra and Seltos differ sharply from each other when it comes to design. The Sierra and Seltos, in our opinion, have shoutier designs. The Duster, on the other hand, keeps things more straightforward- less visual drama, bold styling, and a solid, upright stance. All three SUVs come with full-LED lighting, connected tail lamps and several other modern cues. The Duster and Seltos ride on 18-inch wheels while the Sierra gets 19-inch units.

The Duster, Seltos and Sierra come well-equipped. It is just the Sierra that gets a triple-screen setup and Dolby Atmos. While the other two get it, the Seltos notably misses out on a powered tailgate. The Duster comes with built-in Google integration and offers power adjustments to both front seats.
Features like premium audio system, electronic parking brake, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera, level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, wireless charger etc are common between the three.
The Duster is a petrol-only model while the two others are offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Renault SUV comes with two engine options- 1.0L turbo-petrol making 98hp and 160Nm, and 1.3L turbocharged petrol producing 160hp and 280Nm.

The Sierra offers three engine options- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine making 106 hp & 145 Nm, 1.5L turbocharged diesel producing 118 hp and 260 Nm and 1.5L direct injection turbocharged petrol making 158 hp & 255 Nm.
Three engines are available on the Seltos- 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5 turbocharged petrol and 1.5L diesel with outputs of 113hp and 144Nm, 158 hp & 253 Nm, and 115hp & 250Nm respectively. All three SUVs also offer the choice of automatic transmissions on various engines. Of the three, it is the Duster that drives and handles the best. The Sierra, on the other hand, offers a plusher, more comfortable ride inside.
