Tata Motors is set to launch the facelifted Tiago and Tiago.EV in India on May 28, 2026. Ahead of the same, the carmaker has released a video giving us the first look at the duo. The 20-second clip shows the exterior designs of both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV versions of the facelifted Tiago. Here are all our learnings from the teaser.

The teaser shows the exterior design of both cars in detail. We can see the front, rear and side views clearly. Both the ICE and EV versions seem to have undergone a significant design evolution. The front fascia and rear end have the most noticeable changes. The silhouette remains familiar.
There is an added sense of sophistication to the new design. The front fascia looks sleeker, sharper and significantly more modern than that of the pre-facelift model. The ICE version’s front end would now remind you of the Altroz with its styling. The grille now gets a gloss Black treatment and is a single-piece unit. No air vents there. The actual cooling system has been positioned below it, on the bumper.

The bumper itself, gets a sharper styling and details that would invoke memories of the Altroz. The ICE version gets pixel-shaped fog lamps. There is a tasteful use of Black trims in the front fascia’s styling. Chrome has been avoided. The headlamps are now sleeker and come with eyebrow-like LED DRLs.
The Tiago.EV also gets eyebrow-like LED DRLs, sleeker headlamps, a closed-off, body-coloured front grille, and a front bumper that reminds us of other Tata EVs. It, however, misses out on front fog lamps. Like the ICE version, the EV also gets Black wheel arch claddings.

The rear end has also been redesigned. The new Tiago and Tiago.EV get new LED DRLs that get sleek, vertical LED elements. The rear bumpers have also been redesigned and have Black inserts in them. The duo also get shark fin antennas and integrated rear spoilers.
The facelifted Tiago also gets new 15-inch alloy wheels while the new Tiago.EV rides on new 14-inch, aero-optimized wheels.

We have had three important interior-related learnings from the video. It briefly shows the front seat design of the Tiago.EV. These appear to feature a large, fixed headrest and not adjustable ones. Interestingly, the outgoing version has adjustable headrests at the front. Also, it remains unclear if fixed front headrests will be kept exclusive to the electric version of the new Tiago.
Another important finding is that the new Tiago and Tiago.EV will get a new free-standing infotainment system. The details of this remain unclear. It is, however, likely to be borrowed from the facelifted Punch.EV. If so, it will be a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen by Harman.
The third learning is that the facelifted Tiago.EV and internal combustion Tiago will come equipped with a 360-degree camera. Front and mirror-mounted camera units are clearly visible in the video.

The facelift is also expected to improve the safety suite. The outgoing version of the Tiago and Tiago.EV feature dual airbags. The updated model, however, could come with six. Tata Motors is also likely to introduce the Battery As A Service (BaaS) system on the new Tiago.EV. Taking this route can bring down the upfront costs significantly- maybe to around Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom, placing it more squarely against the MG Comet.
No changes are expected in the powertrain on the new ICE Tiago. It will continue with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and CNG powertrain as the outgoing model.

The Tiago.EV is now offered with two battery packs- 19.2kWh and 24kWh. The facelift may get larger units and more powerful electric motors. A similar pattern was seen in the case of the Punch.EV as well. If the larger battery uses prismatic cells, we may see the carmaker offering lifetime battery warranty as well. For now, we lack clarity on this front and will have to wait till launch to learn more.
