Toyota is one of those brands present in India that has managed to thrive despite offering relatively expensive vehicles in the market. The main reason behind this success is its no-nonsense and reliable products, along with a wide sales and service network across the country. Like most brands, Toyota is also updating its lineup in a timely manner, and as part of the same strategy, it is expected to launch four new SUVs in the Indian market.
The Urban Cruiser eBella is actually Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. Like Maruti, the eBella is Toyota’s first electric vehicle in the Indian market. It is based on the HEARTECT-e platform, which is a skateboard platform specifically developed for EVs.

The exterior design of the eBella is in line with Toyota vehicles sold internationally. Coming to the specifications, the eBella is powered by either a 49 kWh or a 61 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery version generates 144 PS, while the bigger battery version generates 174 PS. In both versions, the electric motor produces 189 Nm of torque. The 49 kWh version offers a claimed range of 440 km, while the bigger version offers a claimed range of 543 km.
The official unveiling of the eBella is already over, but the official prices are not out yet. Maruti recently unofficially revealed the price of the eVitara, and Toyota’s prices are expected to be somewhat similar.
Toyota is also working on the next-generation Fortuner, and it was recently spotted testing in Thailand. From the pictures, it seems like the upcoming Fortuner is going to take inspiration from the Toyota Hilux that was unveiled last year.

The upcoming SUV is likely to retain its bulky silhouette with a completely new front end featuring sleeker headlamps, a wider grille, a muscular bumper, and LED fog lamps. The alloy wheel design on the Fortuner is also expected to be different.
Just like the front, the rear of the Fortuner will also get a new design, and we expect to see sleek LED tail lamps and other modern elements. The interior of the SUV is expected to get design elements similar to the next-gen Hilux, along with premium features including a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more. The SUV is expected to use the same 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engines, possibly with mild-hybrid technology.
Toyota showcased the ninth-generation Hilux in Thailand last year. Although pickup trucks are not very popular among car buyers in India, we have seen several off-road enthusiasts and adventure seekers buying the current-generation Hilux here.

It looks like Toyota might update the Hilux in India and offer the next-gen version here as well. It would come with an upright front fascia that Toyota calls the ‘Cyber Sumo Face’. It looks aggressive and complements the overall look of the truck. It is based on the IMV platform and will continue using the same 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine with manual and automatic transmission options.
Another SUV from Toyota was recently spotted testing in India. It looked like an extended version of the Hyryder, which is already on sale in the country. It is possible that Toyota is currently working on a 7-seater version of the Hyryder, and it is expected to come with the same mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid engine options as the 5-seater version.

Toyota is also expected to offer the AWD feature with the mild-hybrid version, along with an automatic transmission. There are also rumours that this could be Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which was launched last year.
